Restrained Buzz

Hold your arms out and carry the weight,
pretend it's not all too much,
pretend your skin has been untouched.

Intoxicating smile and empty eyes, what does that say about what's inside?

Don't let them know your pain,
don't let them see you ache,
how weak it is to show any vulnerability,
don't let them take advantage of you this way.

Because coffee shakes and nicotine headaches is always the cure to make it through the day, I promise that I'm okay.

I promise not to break in your presence,
I won't show the ways I cave.

I doubt you'd want to see me for what I truly have become.

So stay in the shadows that I've placed you in, I don't want you to feel the need to try and fix what's broken.

It wouldn't be as simple as you think it is, I don't want you to drown in my unfamiliar mind like I have.
