[Slightly AU] Lifeless Eyes

" Where are we going? " Ponyboy asked, his black shades hiding his lime green eyes.

" You'll see. "

I guided him towards to what was that of the Windrixville Church. It's been ten years since Johnny, Ponyboy and I ran away. Johnny; who was now dead, was hospitalized for saving children from the burning flames of the church.

" Y'know, (Y/N). I don't understand why you're so persistent into bringing me here. I can't even see anymore. " He joked.

But I knew, that inside it hurt him. Due to that fire, he became blind. And boy, when we tried breaking the news to him he swung fists in every direction, denying the fact that he was handicapped.

" Quit whinin'. "

He groaned, allowing me to continue walking.

" We're here! " I shouted enthusiastically, hugging Ponyboy's neck.

" Where exactly? "

I looked out at the marvelous shades of pink and orange in the lavender sky, " Nature's first hue is gold... "

As I recited the poem to Ponyboy, I could've sworn a couple of tears rolled down his cheeks, " Nothing Gold Can Stay. " He finished, quickly wiping his eyes.
