"Happy New years!" Sodapop and Ponyboy screamed at eachother, laughing and horsing around the house.

Sodapop threw confetti at Darrel who was reading the newspaper.

" Quit it, I'm trying to read. "

" C'mon Darry, don't be such a party pooper. " Ponyboy mumbled, throwing confetti at his brothers face.

Darrel Curtis; the oldest, stood up and removed the confetti. He confronted his younger brother, " I'm so sorry, Ponyboy, I promise.. to make things better this year. I'll try not to yell at you or nitpick you for the littlest things. "

Ponyboy's eyes grew in shock, he hadn't expected Darrel to say that. He ran to him and hugged Darrel so tight, he could've broken his lungs. Sodapop; whom was smiling the brightest embraced the two, also hugging them tightly.
