"You were just an experiment to me,
Levi."
Nonchalantly,
you stared at the purple haired introvert who was knelt before you on his knees.
"You were never anything more to me,
and you never will be."
Your words were cold,
harsh,
as bitter as dark,
rich,
plain coffee.
But it was for the best.

"Y-you don't mean that!
Stop it,
MC,
you don't mean any of this-
I KNOW you!"
Leviathan screamed before you,
burying his face into his hands as the faucet in his eyes opened,
letting his tears flood out.
Yet you didn't budge,
or yell back,
or pull him up and close to you.
Because this was what was best for the both of you,
you had decided.

"I'm sorry, Levi."
Giving him one more empty,
sorrowful look,
you slowly moved towards his door,
his room only filled with his sobs and cries and the sound of your heeled school shoes clicking against the flooring.
The walk felt longer,
slower than usual,
as your brain scanned through every memory with this one demon,
almost as if sending you a signal.
Letting you know that this isn't what's best.

As time froze around you in your moments to the otaku's door,

you went numb,
and remembered.
The first memory was simple,
your first date.
The two of you visited a secluded boba tea shop with a built in arcade:
it's safe to say,
it was an amazing first.

"MC! Try this flavour,
it's the mango one with the basic tapioca pears~"
He said enthusiastically,
examining your face as you took a small sip from the straw.
"Mm! It's nice,
now you try mine!"
Beaming up at him,
you moved your straw up to his lips,
watching excitedly as he gulped down a large sip.

"MC, get down from there!"

Panting,
he had cried,
watching as you clambered up the rocks.

"But we're almost there,
Viathan,
hurry up!"
Giggling excitedly,
you had ran up to the top of the trail,
and stood in awe at the view.
The mountains stood tall and proud,
all their ridges and daggers pointing up to the sky.
Ropes of ivy and wall flowers looped through and layered on top of the rocks,
contrasting the mountains ominous demeanour.
A river slowly trickled through the middle,
such a pale and clear blue,
with lily pads and flowers scattered atop of the water.
It was breathtaking.

"Y-yah..."
He breathed out from behind you,
starting you and pulling you out of your trance.
"What are you so fast for, normie?"
Shyly,
you smiled and ticked a strand if hair behind your ear,
sending him a soft smile from above your shoulder blade.

"The views worth it,
Levi."

"Oh yeah?"
Muttering saltily,
he stumbled over to your side,
draping a hand over your waist and pulling you in closer.
"W-well...
you're my best view."

Just like that, it all hit again.
Making you question just why you were leaving him.
He loved you and you loved him,
what was the issue?
Timing.
That was it.
You two weren't meant to be.
It wasn't tied in with the strings of fate or fit the strings of stars that loomed above.
You were meant to cross paths,
but be together for a lifetime?
Not yet at least.

Your footsteps slowed down,
and you paid attention to his sobbing,
crying.
When had he ever cried like that?
But you ignored your gut feeling,
what your brain and heart are telling you,
because ultimately you had other plans.
And those plans weren't with him anymore.
He started as an experiment,
as a game,
so that was how he was going to go.

With your body nearing the door,
you held your breath,
in anticipation or fear you didn't know.
He was an experiment,
we weren't meant to be...
You reassured yourself as you stepped outside of his bedroom,
what had been your bedroom,
abandoning your love and memories with him as well as your happiness and hope.
