Back in the Slytherin common room, you, Draco, and Blaise sat around the fire.

"I think it's bloody ridiculous," Draco said.

"I have to agree with you there mate, compared to those guys from Durmstrang Hogwarts will never win," Blaise agreed.

"What about the girls from Beauxbatons, they could throw a fair fight," you added.

"Please, none of those girls looked like they would be good at doing anything other than styling their hair," Draco scoffed. You pinched his arm hard.

"Why do I even try to talk to you," you said as you got up. You felt someone's hand grab yours. Draco pulled you back down next to him.

"I was just joking love, no need to get your panties in a twist," he teased.

"And you said Potter is her boyfriend Malfoy," Blaise mocked.

Draco shot Blaise a look before continuing the conversation. "I can't wait to see the git from Hogwarts that will be competing in the tournament. Whoever it is, I hope they're ready to face their death," he said. You and Blaise both giggled.

"I heard pretty boy Cedric Diggory is going to put his name in," Blaise said. You only had one word to describe Cedric, perfect. He was two years ahead of you and quite literally the face of perfection.

"He's too gorgeous to be in the tournament," you said.

"Are you joking," Draco remarked.

You glanced at him with a straight face, "No, I am being serious. That boy is way too gorgeous to compete in the tournament." Blaise and Draco both glared at you.

"First it's Potter now Diggory," Blaise teased.

Draco was silent for a moment before he spoke. "Diggory wouldn't last a second. Last time I checked, looks didn't determine who won the tournament," he said. You couldn't help but notice the slight bit of jealousy he was giving off. You just couldn't figure out why he would be.

"I don't know, he is a really good seeker for Hufflepuff," Blaise replied.

"Well, that's great for Diggory. If one of the tasks is to fly around and catch a little golden ball he'll be in the lead," Draco spat sarcastically.

"What's with you lately anyways," you snapped. He looked at you, and for a split second, he looked hurt.

"What's with me? The real question is what's with you. Did you go mad over the summer or something?! Harry Potter and Cedric Diggory are two people you should not be speaking so fondly of. I thought you were better than that," he said, nearly shouting.

"Maybe I'm not. Since when do you care so much about who I think fondly of," you said glaring at him.

"Uh, hey guys," Blaise tried to get a word in.

"Shut it, Blaise," you both said in unison. With that Blaise got up and walked to the boys' dormitories, leaving you and Draco alone.

"Why do you always act as if I've never cared about you," Draco asked, hurt.

"Because if you cared you wouldn't spend so much of your time fighting with me about things like this," you replied. He looked down at his hands for a second.

"See, that's where you're wrong. I get in these stupid fights with you because I care about you," he said.

"I'm sorry Draco, it's just that when you try and control me it only makes me want to act out more. I know that you care, alright. I care for you too," you said softly.

"If you love acting out against me, then why do you get so offended every time I mention your little situation with Potter," Draco asked. You stared at the roaring fire, trying to think of your response.

"I don't want you going around telling everyone because if word gets back to my father, I'm dead," you said with a terrified expression.

"Doesn't that tell you that you shouldn't be talking to him," Draco teased.

"I'm being serious, Draco. My father is strict about who I am allowed to be friends with. If he found out about Potter, or even what I said about Diggory, he would go mad. When he gets angry he just kind of loses control. I don't want him to hurt anyone, especially my mother," you said, trying not to cry.

"I'm sorry (Y/N), I didn't know. Listen, if he ever touches you or your mother, tell me," he said sincerely. You knew why he cared so much about this. You saw how his father treated him and his mother. Should I say something  you thought.

You both sat there for at least thirty seconds, just staring into each other's eyes. This was really strange. "It's getting late, Draco. We should probably go to bed," you said.

"Right," he said as he got up. He held out his hand for you, which you hesitantly took. Before you both went your separate ways, you decided to pull him in for a hug. To your surprise, he hugged you back. With your head in the crook of his neck, you couldn't help but notice that he smelled so good. He smelt like expensive cologne, green apples, and spearmint. You were so entranced by his scent that you hadn't noticed how long the hug had lasted.

"Sorry," you said as you pulled away. His cheeks were bright pink.

"It's alright, Viper. Goodnight," he said before turning away.

You walked up the stairs to the girls' dormitories. When you entered, you noticed that Pansy and Daphne were already knocked out in their beds. You got under the warm covers as you tried to fall asleep. Oddly enough, you couldn't stop thinking about Draco.
