Dear Oscar,

When your dad caught us kissing,
there were two things that went horribly wrong.

One: You told him that I kissed you.
When in fact, you kissed me.
I may have been confused and
I might not have fully understood myself.
But by then I was with Selene.
Confused or not, I was no cheater.

Two: You called me that name.
That horrible, stupid name.
It came from YOUR lips and was directed at me.
Me.
The same person you defended just one year prior because Phoebe had called me it too.

When your dad caught us kissing,
I was scared.
Not for me, but for you.
And then you called me that name.

Suddenly, all I felt was heartbreak.

My parents think my first heartbreak was losing Phoebe.
They're wrong.
My first heartbreak was the day of your betrayal.

You were the one who:
a) wronged me, and
b) failed me.

Because as soon as that word fell
from your lips, you killed the purity that once lived between you and me.
