  Harley's Pov

"No, come back here you little rat!"  I follow behind Ham through the hallway to our room.

"Leave me alone, Harley." He whines exhausted.

"Not until you give me an explanation as to why you didn't tell me about it," I advise him to tell me.

"I already told you. Phillips isn't good for you!" He gives me an invalid justification.

"What is that supposed to mean?"

"I don't want you to date him!" He turned around and yelled.

"I'm not going to date him, Ham. Don't be ridiculous." I shake my head cackling. He rolls his eyes going towards the main door.

"Can you let me go now?" He asks holding onto the doorknob.

"I'm leaving too" I announced pushing him out. We shove each other outside almost tripping on the concrete. I pulled my skateboard down and put my foot on it slid off our sidewalk. I look back in Hams's direction.

"Later ugly!" He waves.

"Later idiot!" I wave back.

A few minutes later I pulled up in front of the Phillips residence. I couldn't help but turn around to see Dayanna's house across. Guiltiness washes over me once again.

I was thinking of talking to her today but her car wasn't parked where it usually is so I assume she isn't home. But I will speak to her as soon as I can.

Yesterday, was a bizarre night, to say the least. I mean, I had a genuine heart-to-heart conversation with The Jordan Phillips. He opened up to me about his personal life and so did I. We shared similar experiences. And he even told me he had a crush on me.

What?! That's insane. If I had heard it from someone else I'd probably punch them in the face and tell them to go get checked in the head. But he told me so. Is life even real anymore?

"Morning Harley" Karen's familiar voice pulls me out of my thoughts. I turn around from Dayanna's house giving her my full attention.

"Good morning Karen" I greet her walking up to her as she approaches her car.

"How are you doing this fine day today?" She asks as I politely shake her hand.

"Good, I can already tell it's going to be a very hot day," I said eyeing the sky above us. Ever since I raced here I began to feel hot and the sun was burning through me the whole time.

"Me as well, kiddo." She chuckles.

"Is your mother getting any better?" I ask her moving my hands in my pockets as we spoke.

"Yes, actually she is. Yesterday, she started eating and she even conversed with me." She informs happily.

"That's good news isn't it?"

"Yes, it's wonderful news. She'll be out in no time, I know it." I smile acknowledging the fact that she'd be better soon.

"I'm glad, Mrs.Philips." I congratulate her.

"Me too. Anyway, I should get going. I'll be back earlier than yesterday so don't worry about curfew." She tells me to open her car door.

"Keys are in the Petunia pot as usual." She instructs clicking her tongue and pointing gun fingers at me.

"Alright, later Mrs." I do the gun fingers instead of waving.

I walk up the porch keeping in mind what she said and getting the key. I unlock the entrance and go in. I make sure not to make too much noise and wake them up. I'm thinking of surprising them today with a special breakfast.
