Chapter 24: Looking from afar

SASHA REIN SALVATORE

When Dad heard the news, I thought he'll get mad at me or something, but as Mom said, it's gonna be okay. He didn't say much. He just asked me if I'm okay. How did I end up with such understanding parents? Although I'm aware that some investors and stockholders pulled out their stocks due to the issue. Still, Dad didn't say anything bad to me.

It's been a month and a week, and the news of us getting annulled has been the hot topic of the town. It can be seen on any news channel on television, can be heard on any radio show, can be read on social media, and even in tabloids. Some are bashing me, saying it's my fault. Some say it's Jax's fault 'cause he's known as a player. Some say there's a third party. And more. Ang dami na nilang nagawang kwento. Magtataka pa ba ako?

However, the reason we released, was different from what did really happened. We just said that due to some personal issues and personality differences, we decided to break the marriage. Still, the merging of our business will continue. May agreement lang na nangyari sa dalawang pamilya. Hindi na ako sumali pa do'n. Sila na ang bahala. Mukhang naging okay naman dahil walang ibang nangyari after their talk.

I haven't heard from nor seen any of them since then. Hindi na rin ako nagtanong pa. Though I'm still working on the company, (Salvatore-Buenavista Co.) I can't say that nothing has changed and that nothing happened because I feel like I'm slowly coming back to the old me. Minus the nerd aura and look. I don't know if it's guilt or what, but I know I'm not okay. But this is what I wanted, so I should be okay, right?

I was busy finishing the proposal for next month's release of its new collection when someone knocked on my door.

"Come in," I said.

I looked up quickly and then bowed my head after. It's Sheerah, ou-my secretary.

Did I just feel disappointed? Whom did I expect then?

"Ma'am, hindi na naman po ba kayo mag l-lunch?" I look at my watch, it's already lunchtime. Time flies quickly if you're busy. Hindi ko man lang napansin.

I shook my head. "I'll just grab a late lunch later. I need to finish this first. You can take yours."

She always asks me whenever lunch strikes.

She's still standing there and looking at me so I raised my eyebrow. May gusto pa ata siyang sabihin pero tumango na lang siya at lumabas na nang office ko.

Hindi pa naman ako gutom kaya okay lang. I continue doing my proposal.

After an hour or two, I finished doing my proposal and decided to read some documents. I'm too lazy to go out and buy food. Aside from that, I'm not that hungry yet.

I'm currently reading some documents when I heard knocking on my office.

"Yes?" still looking at the documents. I'm checking this month's sales and comparing them to the past month's performance. The effect of our merging can be seen in the documents, also our annulment issue. Though it's not that bad. Kaya siguro walang sinabi si Dad.

"Uhmm, Ma'am." I looked up and saw my secretary holding a plastic of take-out food. It's two bags of plastic lunch boxes in her left hand and a cup of my favorite coffee in her right hand.
