The thought of Ivar pranking Eva was out of her mind after thirty minutes in his company.  He literally had been asking her of all the things laying in her bedroom. Asking her mundane questions like what a book was and how the house was made with such beauty, how is it possible that her desk chair was so soft and able to spin. She at first was questioning how sincere his questions were. Obviously everyone in this day and age know the answers to these questions. Though Eva couldn't help but realize that every question he asked was out of pure curiosity she had seen in others who generally peaked an interest in the new IPhone models.

After thinking of how weird their conversation is, she couldn't help but be irritated with answering dumb  questions.

"Ivar, enough with the questions. You can't stay here." she sighed. "I don't know where the hell you came from, or what you are doing here but you have to leave."

"Where am I to go? I don't even know where I am now," Ivar narrowed his eyes at Eva. "How am I to survive in this foreign land?"

"Look, I'm only eighteen and my parents already hate my guts. If you get caught in my room I'll be in heaps of trouble!" Eva gave him a disbelieving look.

"Well I can always take care of your parents," Ivar smirked while looking pass her at his ax still stuck in the wall.

"You can't kill my parents, you idiot!" she whisper yelled, "you'll go to jail, and I'll be parent-less which makes my situation worse."

"I am a viking, I can kill who I want," he sneered back. "I will not go to your so called jail, I am too intelligent to end up in such places."

Eva was getting more frustrated with Ivar, he was as stubborn as her. But she knew she couldn't keep him holed up in her room forever. She wasn't too afraid of losing her life any time soon because he believes that Odin has sent him to her for a special purpose that is currently unknown.

"Viking this, jail that, meh meh meh," Eva muttered under her breath annoyed.

"What did you say?" Ivar asked brows raised

"Nothing, your highness."

"Better, oh and Eva try calling me idiot one more time," Ivar looked straight into Eva's hazel eyes, "I am itching to use my ax on your tongue."

Eva gulped without realizing, though her life was insured she realized there were other ways he knew how to torture her if she wasn't careful.

........................................................................

Eva went downstairs to the kitchen to get some food for herself and Ivar. Her father was making something to eat whilst her mum and sister were watching Friends on TV. Eva was the eldest daughter of her parents, but she was definitely not their favorite. Elaine was their favorite child of all, she could do no mistakes in their eyes. She was constantly competing for her parents attention but realized she couldn't careless and was just ready to move out and do her own thing once this year of school was over.

'I bet they forgot my birthday' Eva thought as she pulled into the kitchen.

"Hey, dad."

"Hey Eva, want some porridge for breakfast?" her dad asked not looking up from the pot.

"Yes please," Eva waited for anyone of her family members to say something, but they didn't as usual.

"Dad, what do you know about vikings?" Eva asked trying to not sound suspicious.

"Not too much, except that they would raid other countries, steal their gold and treasure," he finally looked up to his daughter, " oh and slaughter all the people after they rape the woman."

Eva couldn't help her face from falling, 'I'm so dead, I have a rapist/thief/killer in my room that I have to live with... Should I call the police?'

"Lucky we don't live in those days aye," her dad said, "Why do you ask?"

"Oh, um... nothing," Eva tried to smile but her expression just couldn't with her new found knowledge.

"Well there's a TV show called Vikings on netflix, apparently its about the history of them," he said handing her a bowl of blue berry cinnamon porridge.

"Thanks, but can I have some more please," she forced a smile.

He handed her the ladle, "watch your portions," her mother yelled from the couch.

"Yeah Fat ass," the golden child added.

'Can't wait to get out of here,' Eva thought, 'Oh yeah and its my birthday you selfish mother...'

After filling her bowl up and grabbing another spoon for Ivar she walked as slowly as she could to her room.

'Hes a freaking rapist, what if he rapes me while I sleep,' she couldn't shake it from her mind, once she was in front of her door she took in a deep breath and then exhaled.

"Just talk to him like a civilized person, he's reasonable. He needs your help not the other way round! Use it to your advantage."

After her little pep talk she finally walked in.

Ivar was still sitting in the same spot next to her bed on the floor where she left him.

"Good, I'm starved," he said as she sat the bowl between them.

Eva was eating very slowly while observing Ivar. He was shoving down the food like it was the last supper.

"I know I am beautiful, but what are you thinking about?" Ivar said as he scooped the last spoonful in his mouth.

"Are you a rapist?" She blurted. Once it left her mouth she wished she could take it back.

Ivar put the bowl and spoon down and looked her dead in the eye.

"Even if I was a rapist, I would not rape the likes of you," he said with a sneer.

'I'm so ugly that even a rapist wouldn't rape me,' Eva thought 'lucky me.'

"I'm sorry, its just, If you live in my room we have to set boundaries and vikings are known for rape" she said avoiding his glare.

"Killing is more appealing to me then rape," Ivar used the end of his ax to lift her head to met his eyes. "I need no force, to bed woman. They always come willingly," he said never breaking eye contact, smirking.

Eva shuddered under his watchful gaze. Those deep blue eyes will be the end of her, scarring her to death, then making her feel wanted in another.

"Tell me Eva, Why do you have an apple covered in colours with a candle in it?" Ivar asked curiosity swirling in his eyes.

"It's my birthday today" she said looking towards the apple.

"Well I must be your gift from the gods, on your special day," Ivar winked.

"Happy birthday Eva," he said as he pulled her in close and kiss her forehead.

Though Eva was shocked at such an affection gesture from a foreign large man, supposedly a murderer, thief and rapist. She was grateful for his gods, sending him to her on such an occasion. It had been a long time since she had felt warmth in her heart.
