I wake up in a cold sweat, panicking. What in the world was that nightmare? I climb out of bed, walking into the bathroom. The cool water feels amazing on my face. I wipe my face in the fluffy towel, taking a calming breath. I haven’t had nightmares since I was a kid. Why would I have them now?
I flick off the bathroom light and walk back to my bed. Footsteps pass by my bedroom as I climb under the covers. It’s two in the morning. Nobody should be awake. Nobody should be on this side of the house this early in the morning at least. Since this doesn’t feel right, I climb out of my bed once more. Hunter really needs to hire security. I stick my head out into the hall. A shadowy figure is standing outside of Larry’s bedroom door.
“Hello?”
The figure jumps and turns. The shadow starts bolting down the hall. I run after them. Little do they know, there’s just a sitting room at the end of the hall.  I’m in the only entrance and exit. I catch up with the shadow person and they start to panic, backing into a corner.
“Who are you and why are you up here?”
I keep my voice down so that I don’t wake anybody up.
“Please don’t hurt me!”
Hurt her? She sounds about ten years old!
“I’m not going to hurt you if you just tell me who you are and why you are up here!”
“My name is Opal! I’m here to see Larry!”
As if cued in, Larry steps next to me, startling me.
“She’s my girlfriend, Skye. Leave her alone.”
He approaches the figure and gives her a kiss. I didn’t know anybody could like creepy Larry let alone date him.
“So she sneaks up here for quickies?”
The shadows approach me, his arm around her.
“It’s not like that. Opal sneaks up here to talk with me at night. It’s our private time. If you would kindly go back to bed, we have things to catch up on.”
“Fine. Next time, just tell me what’s going on.”
I turn on my heel, walking back to my room to the semi-warm blankets I left on my bed.
