Drastic Changes

My phone keeps blowing up with messages from Andy, wondering where the hell I am. I’m up next, so she’ll find out soon enough. I’ve been at the bar all night chatting with Gavin and listening to the other people. Nobody sounds like dying elephants tonight.
I take a sip of my coke as they call my name.
“Next up, Skye!”
I set my glass down and make my way up to the stage. I toss my purse onto the table where Andy and Daniel are seated as I pass by. Tonight is going to be fun.
The microphone is right in front of me and the crowd is staring at me. Andy’s eyes are practically bugging out of her head. The song starts and I wait for the lyrics. As they start sliding off my tongue, I relax some more. This entire song is like a giant ‘screw you’ to everybody. Mostly Hunter.
‘My life. My love. My sex. My drugs. My lust.’
All so true. I’m going to live life how I want to and if that means dyeing my hair jet black with red tips, then that’s my choice.
At the end of the song, people scream and cheer, clapping loudly and catcalling as I walk off stage. I approach a dumbfounded Andy.
“Hey.”
“Hey? That’s all you’re going to say to me? ‘Hey’? What the hell was that? What is up with your hair? I saw you a few hours ago and you’ve completely changed!”
I shrug and sit on the open stool, my eyes flicking over to the bar. Gavin is still back there, this time making drinks for customers. He’s smiling as he uses a shaker to mix. His t-shirt is barely containing his muscles.
Bright pink nails snap in front of my face.
“Earth to Skye!”
I direct my attention back to Andy and Daniel.
“I just wanted to change things up. I never got the chance to live out my wild side as Hunter’s maid, so I am going to make the most out of my few months left.”
“Few months?”
“I’m not exactly going to be able to go out to clubs once I have an infant. So, from this point on until the baby is born, I’m going to let my wild side loose.”
She smiles and raises her martini glass.
“I’ll drink to that.”
I can’t help but laugh at her statement.
“You’ll drink to anything.”
“And that isn’t a bad thing.”
She takes a sip as a waitress approaches, glass in hand. She sets it down in front of me, smiling.
“Compliments of the owner.”
She disappears again before I can respond. I look over at the bar again, catching Gavin’s eye. He winks at me before going back to his task.
“Looks like somebody has an admirer!”
I roll my eyes, taking a sip of the drink. It’s coke.
“He just gave me a coke, Andy. That’s not a big deal.”
Daniel puts his arm around Andy before putting in his opinion.
“For future reference, Gavin is single.”
I set the glass of cola down, glaring at both of them. Yes, Gavin is a very attractive man. Will he accept me once he finds out I’m pregnant? No.
“That’s excellent to know, but who said I’m looking for anybody right now. Bun in the oven, remember?”
I point to my stomach to drive my point home. Daniel kisses Andy’s temple before taking a sip of the amber liquid filling his glass.

The song is Amen by Halestorm and that is how I imagine Skye's hair, but the red a little darker
