A knock at the door brings me to my feet. I open the door to find Sonny's worried face.
"What's up, Skye? You said you wanna talk about something important?"
"Come on in."
He enters the apartment and sits on the arm of the couch.
"I don't want to give you the wrong impression or idea. I just want to clear the air. I don't think that we would be able to be together."
He doesn't seem phased by this statement. He actually smiles.
"You don't think I already that?"
"What do you mean?"
He laughs and crosses his arms, looking oddly relaxed.
"I see the way you and Gavin look at each other. You two are clearly meant for each other."
I don't know what to say or do. How do I even react to that? Yesterday it was Andy telling me a similar thing, now it's Sonny too? I shake my head, trying to clear it.
"Then why were we doing whatever it is we were doing?"
"If I have to make my brother jealous in order for him to realize the good thing he has, damn right I'm gonna do it. By showing interest in you, I only fueled his jealousy. Now let's just see what happens."
"So this was just an elaborate scheme to get Gavin and I together?"
He thinks a second before nodding.
"Pretty much."
"So what would you have done if I really did fall for you? What if I wasn't interested in Gavin at all?"
Sonny rolls his eyes. A car door slams in the parking lot outside.
"I've seen the way you two look at each other. There is no denying that you two have some form of chemistry."
Someone starts climbing the stairs to the apartment. Gavin must be home. Sonny realizes this too.
"Speaking of my brother..."
As if on cue, Gavin opens the door.
"I got pickles at the store."
His eyes land on Sonny and his face twists to anger.
"Need something, Sonny?"
He says Sonny's name with a bitter tone. This doesn't phase him.
"Yeah. Just coming to say hi to a beautiful lady, that's all."
Gavin's jaw ticks. I glance between the brothers, examining their expressions and evaluating the situation. I take that moment to throw gasoline on the fire. I wrap my arms around Sonny, kissing him on his cheek.  When I pull away,  Gavin is seething mad.
"Alright Sonny, you've overstayed your welcome. Leave. Now."
Anger is dripping off of every word he says.  I smile on the inside. Sonny's right. Gavin IS jealous.
"'Ight. I'll see you later, baby."
Right in front of Gavin, Sonny grabs me and gives me a kiss that leaves me weak at the knees. He leaves, winking at Gavin.
When the door closes behind Sonny, Gavin storms out of the room. The bathroom door slams and the shower turns on.
