Everyone close to you is supportive of your relationship with Shawn, and the important people in his life are supportive of you two as well, it's just most of the rest of the world that has a problem. Since you're Y/R, you've gotten quite a few comments about your race and how you don't look good with Shawn. You hate that it's such a big deal. It literally doesn't affect your relationship in any way. Shawn loves your family and they love him. But as much as you two care for each other, the comments and articles sometimes still get to you.

Hearing something over and over is bound to affect anyone. "Don't you think it's weird how many people have an opinion on our relationship?" You ask Shawn offhandedly as the two of you are sitting on his couch just hanging out.

"I think it doesn't matter unless it is positive opinions." He says, pulling you closer and kissing you lightly.

You smile, "I guess, but there are so many people who are interested in our relationship for some reason. Like I get that you're super interesting and everything, but I'm really not so I don't get why everyone cares."

"Don't say that, and they're just jealous they aren't as pretty as you are. That's why they hate. Or they're jealous of me because I'm the lucky man that gets to call you mine."

You can't stop yourself from rolling your eyes at the fact that he's being so cheesy, but he doesn't even care. Before you even get a chance to really respond, he switches gears becoming serious in a second. "Y/N?"

"Yeah?"

"It doesn't matter what they say. I love you, and they don't know anything about us. If they have negative things to say, they're just ignorant and they don't matter, okay?"

You smile and respond, "Okay, I love you."

"I love you too," He says, kissing you and holding you close, changing the subject as you two just start talking. You get lost in the conversation and forget that there are even any other people in the world who have negative opinions on your relationship. And that's why they don't matter and your relationship is going to work regardless of what other people say because when you're with Shawn, everything else in the world seems to disappear.
