You're on tour with your boyfriend, and since you're here to support him, you try your best to be there for him and to show up to his obligations with him. However, this morning you woke up to discover you were on your period. When you're on your period, you're not the best person to be around. Your period normally hits you hard, meaning it leaves you feeling terrible for the first few days. This period is no different.

You haven't gotten out of bed although your alarm rang a half-hour ago. Shawn has to be at a radio interview in twenty minutes and you told him last night that you'd go with him, but now you don't feel up to it. You don't want to tell him you're on your period. You've only been dating for three months and you just don't feel comfortable telling him that there is blood currently flowing out of your vagina, which causes you physical pain and makes you emotionally unstable.

Your curtain opens revealing Shawn, "Hey babe, are you coming with me?"

"Yeah," You manage to reply, hiding your discomfort. "Let me just get ready." You force yourself out of bed and get ready as quickly as you can. You wait for Shawn to do the radio interview, feeling pain in your abdomen, and just feeling exhausted and kind of gross the whole time. Afterward, you get lunch, where you just pick at your burger, not in the mood to eat anything. You return to the bus, and you head straight to your bunk. A few minutes later, Shawn opens the curtain to your bunk. "Are you feeling okay babe?"

"I'm fine." You tell him.

He feels your head, "You don't feel warm. Do you feel sick?"

"I'm fine Shawn," You tell him.

"You're not, just tell me what's wrong so I can get you something to make you feel better." He tells you. He doesn't sound frustrated, he just sounds like he cares and is concerned for you. Apparently, he picked up on the fact that you haven't been feeling well all day. But still, you don't want to admit the real reason you haven't been feeling well.

"My stomach just hurts." You tell him.

"Do you want tums?"

"I don't think that'll help."

A knowing look spreads across his face. He kisses you lightly on the forehead then asks, "Do you have your period babe?" He doesn't seem grossed out or put off like your boyfriends in the past have been.

You don't answer verbally. You just nod. He brushes your hair from your face and kisses your forehead again. "I'm sorry, I'll go get you an Advil. Do you want something to eat? I think there's some ice cream in the freezer." He says sweetly.

"That sounds good, thank you, Shawn."

"Of course," He says before heading off to grab your Advil and ice cream.

I don't understand why boys think periods gross. Like its part of the female body and there's nothing anyone can do to stop it. And why make fun of girls? This dude in my school humiliated a girl in front of the whole class because he saw a pad in her pencil bag. WHY?? It's fucking messed up!
