[Part2] ⤀ 31] The Rise of Ezra
9 months later
A coma.
A cut.
A gush of blood.
A baby.
A cry.
Loud.
For me.
****
A time later
A chirpy baby wakes me from my slumber, and I awaken on my side – one pale thin arm outstretched while my hand is being clasped.
Pulled at.
My finger sucked.
My finger squeezed so deathly tight.
Big blue eyes.
Looking at me. Looking at him.
****
Timelessness
A heavy weight on my lower chest – heavy until I open my weak eyes and see the little hand on my breast, as a baby's head rolls back to my nipple – and a hand on the head of the baby, helping it remain there, is strong and pale and full of blue large veins.
The arm connected – so steady, with a warmth at my cheek, while fingers stroke down to my neck.
Over and over – while I'm sleepy.
And again.
****
Time's up
Almost like a part of my brain starts to light up randomly, I am suddenly aware I am waking for minutes at a time – sometimes seconds.
I'm suddenly aware I have a baby.
And so sudden and swiftly – I don't want to sleep ever again!
I need to wake up, I need to wake up, I need to wake up!
I need to stay awake this time!
I try to pull myself up.
There's a name – spoken.
By Eros.
By the father.
The King – so lovingly.
I need to hear the name.
"Ezra!"
Scolding him?
Why?
I feel my hair being pulled – so hard it hurts.
It's the best feeling in the world and it's keeping me conscious this time.
"Ezra, no," Eros growls loudly as the bed moves and my eyes snap open as Eros rolls over me.
Eros – who has a hand reached out for Ezra's little hand – pulling on my hair.
Eros and I lock eyes – and he watches me with the greatest pain and joy all at once.
He waits for me to go back under.
But I'm here – and I'm not going away again.
"...hello," I speak, it hurts so much, but I don't' care, "E-Eros. I'm awake now."
"Shut up," Eros cuts off a pained breath, "Lily..." he gulps, "...we have a son."
"I know," I whisper, turning my head as Eros' spontaneous tears splatter down onto my face.
