Chapter 53

I awoke the next morning to find Embry and Jacob gone. I yawned as I sat up and I saw Bella still sound asleep. I noticed Edward gone and took this opportunity to change. I slipped on my jeans from yesterday, my boots, a grey shirt, my beanie and my flannel shirt. I realised it was nowhere near as cold as last night and walked out of the tent to see Edward walking back up the hill.

I heard footprints and turned to see Seth walking up. The tent unzipped and I saw Bella poke her head out before stepping out completely as Seth walked over to her. Edward and I walked over and I gave Seth a pat. "Where's Jacob? Did he already...""Not yet. He's checking to see if the woods are clear before he goes" Edward said as he stepped closer to Bella.

I took this as a hint that they wanted to be alone and walked away with Seth. I walked to the edge of the mountain and looked out at the view as Seth stood beside me. "It's beautiful isn't it?" I said as I continued to look out. Seth gave a grunt and I smiled. "I take it you're disappointed that you can't see any action right?" I said as I looked at him and he gave a nod.

I giggled and scratched behind his ear. I gave a laugh as his back leg twitched and stopped when I saw Jake walking up the mountain. "Hey Jake" I said giving him a small smile. "Hey Mal. Is Bella awake yet?" Jacob asked as he stopped and I nodded. He thanked me before walking back to the campsite.

"Jake stop!" I heard Bella call and turned to see Jacob angrily walking away from her. "Oh God" I said before walking back to where Edward was standing. "What did you do?" I said as I approached him. "He overheard me talking to Bella about our engagement" Edward said and I gave him a slightly shocked look.

"Are you serious? You totally did that on purpose. Why would you do that? To one up him because of last night?!" I snapped and Edward remained silent. "Edward, I don't mean to lecture you but you just need to accept the fact that Jacob is Bella's best friend. When you two fight like you do it hurts her because you're her boyfriend - sorry, fiancé- and he's her best friend. I know he's annoying and really petty sometime but he means a lot to Bella" I said and Edward sighed.

"I know" He said and I bit my bottom lip. I watched as Edward's expression turned hurt. Confused, I took a few steps forward and looked between the trees to see Bella making out with Jacob. "Oh my God" I breathed to myself before walking back to Edward. After a few moments Bella came into view, slowly walking over to us with a look of confusion on her face as she stared at the snow.

"You saw?" She said as she stopped in front of Edward. "No, but, Jacob's thoughts were pretty loud" Edward replied. "I don't know what happened" Bella said still slightly dazed. "You love him" Edward muttered and Bella looked up at him. "I love you more" Bella replied. "I know" Edward said and I fought the urge to roll my eyes.

It was bad enough being away from Emmett let alone having to deal with these two's sappy love shit. Seth reappeared from the trees and stood in front of Edward looking at him. "It's starting" Edward said as he looked at Bella and I. I sucked in a sharp breath as anxiety filled my chest. "Jacob just got there. He's good" Edward said and I saw Bella relax.

"And Emmett?" I said as I bit my bottom lip anxiously. "He's fine" Edward said and I let out a breath of relief. "Thank God" I said as I placed my hand on my chest over my racing heart. After a few minutes I watched Edward's facial expression change into panic. "Someone's hurt?" Bella said and my heart rate began to race again as he looked around.

"She's close! I can hear her thoughts. Seth go!" Edward said and Seth ran off behind the trees. Bella grabbed my hand as she pulled me over to Edward. "She knew we weren't there but she caught my scent. She noticed Malory wasn't their with Emmett either. She knew you'd both be with me" Edward said. "She found us" Bella said as she grabbed my hand in hers.

I heard someone approaching and my breathing began to quicken as the fear and anxiety built in my stomach. "She's not alone" Edward said and I lifted my eyes from the snow to see someone walking out from the trees. Is that...Riley Biers? The guy whose been missing? I thought to myself as I watched him slowly walk over to us.

(Sorry to cut the chapter here I just hate writing long chapters because I feel like it gets boring after a while)
