Petra Ramirez

My heart pounded in my chest as Xavier's words hung in the air, filling my head with a mix of anticipation, and uncertainty. I couldn't believe what I was hearing, I mean, I knew he had feelings for me but didn't know that he loved me.

He is my boss, my friend, a part of the fucking Mafia. Xavier confessed his love for me the night before my wedding, it was a whirlwind of emotions, and I felt my world going all over the place.

Xavier placed a kiss on my cheek, before telling me that he wasn't going to attend my wedding which broke my heart more. As he walked away, leaving me stunned and unable to utter a single word, a rush of conflicting feelings washed over me.

For some reason I wanted to yell the words, 'I chose you'. I wanted to chase after him, to tell him how I felt, but the weight of my impending marriage held me back. I stood there frozen as I watched him turn the corner and disappear.

My emotions only grew stronger for Xavier, him admitting that had ignited a flame within me, a flame that burned brighter with every passing moment. Is my feeling for him something deeper? Something real?

I knew it was too late to choose him, I had to go through with this wedding, I mean I love Samuel.

I come back to reality when a raindrop hits me, I swear it only rains when something dramatic happens between Xavier and I.

I exhaled sharply as I pulled out my phone to order an Uber, I just wanted to go home to my Ellie bear and snuggle with her. Especially attempting to mentally prepare myself for tomorrow, along with processing the fact that Xavier loves me.

As soon as I got home, I took a shower and headed into Ellie's room where she was sound asleep. I snuggled close to her before covering myself up with the blanket, I placed a kiss on her forehead before wrapping my arms around her little body.

My mind starts thinking about the first time I met Xavier which was at his club, then the night at the bar the way we almost kissed each other while dancing, then the charity event, when we went to the little café, the night he admitted he was interested in me and he was in the Mafia, then our moment in the elevator at work.

We have had so many moments together, where we were so close to kissing. These are moments I've never had with Samuel, the tension and chemistry Xavier and I have between each other it was like something kept pulling us together.

I tried to do everything I could to fall asleep, but I just couldn't. I eventually get up from the bed and head over to Kylie's room.

I opened the door and saw her asleep on her stomach with her arms and legs sprawled out, with drool coming out of her mouth. Her hair is in rollers.

I laughed to myself before laying in bed beside her, just as I was about to turn to her, Kylie quickly rose up from the bed and threw a punch at my face making me fall out of the bed.

"What the fuck, Kylie?!" I yelled as I held the side of my cheek before getting up, "Why did you do that?"

"Oh, my bad Petra. I thought you were my sister, I hate my sister." She apologizes as she helps me up.

"I know you hate your sister, but did you really have to throw a punch?" I asked, "What are you an assassin or something?"

Kylie stays quiet for a few seconds, "Yeah, I am actually."

I stayed quiet for a moment before letting out a humorless laugh, "You're funny, not you're not."

"I am Petra." She insists.
