XAVIER ROMANO

Love, they say that love is supposed to be an extraordinary thing right? They're right, I had the love story I could ever have imagined.

The hardest part about losing someone is that you have to keep going, having to continue turning the page knowing that the person won't be there.

It's been three weeks since Petra's death, three weeks since I have seen her, heard her voice, her laughter. Three weeks since she last took her breath.

Tristan died that night as well, in Axel's arms. Elijah said he was lying beside Tristian for the whole night until I came and helped him get off of Tristian.

Today is the day of her funeral. We had Tristian last week. But we waited for Petra's. I've only seen Ace and Eliana a few times since.

I've been dreading this day, that's why I've been pushing it back for so long. I don't want reality to sink in for me.

My parents have been taking care of the kids since, making sure that they have everything that they need while I've been trying my best to grieve.

"Mr. Romano, we have arrived," Preston says, as the car comes to a stop.

I look out the car window, and in the distance, I can see Petra's coffin surrounded by everyone. I had everyone else arrive earlier than me, I needed to be alone for a while.

I put my sunglasses on and got out of the car, it was cloudy out. There was a small breeze but nothing too much. I could feel a few raindrops but it wasn't serious.

I close the door behind me and make my way over to where everyone else is, Petra is being buried right where we had Tristian buried.

Knowing her she would've wanted to be near her family, especially her brother and parents.

I stood a few feet away from everyone, I didn't want anyone to feel bad for me or remind me about how I lost the love of my life. My first actual love.

Scanning the crowd, my eyes landed on Kylie who was holding her newborn son in her hand as tears were streaming down her face.

After she found out that Petra died, she seemed like she was guilty and it was her fault.

Elijah is standing next to her as he moves the stroller back and forth with their baby girl and other baby boy in it.

My mom is holding Ace in her arms with tears pouring down her face as she holds my dad's hand as he holds back his tears.

Camille is standing beside Valentina as she has a sad expression on her face. Carlos and Derek are standing beside Elena and Axel as they are standing behind Eliana who is crying in Damien's arms with his parents standing beside him.

Aurora is standing away from the crowd with her two brothers Aaron and Alex. I'm guessing she feels awkward since she didn't know Petra that well.

As the priest starts talking I block out whatever he is saying as everyone else starts crying. I didn't have any more tears to cry, I couldn't cry.

Petra's death ruined me in ways I couldn't even imagine, and it might go downhill from here.

After some time, I watch as everyone places flowers on her coffin one by one. I stayed standing beside the tree as I watched them walk away from the grave as they began to lower her coffin.

"We will see you at the house, son." My father spoke as he walked with Eliana following.

Eliana hasn't spoken to anyone since she found out her mother died. She hasn't even spoken to me, not once.

I nodded my head as I watched them walk off, I exhaled deeply as I walked over to Petra's grave and stared at her tombstone, removing my sunglasses. I place them in my pocket.

"Hello, love." I spoke softly as my voice began to break, "It's been three weeks since I saw you last. I miss you more than anything. Especially with the fact that I will never get to see you again."

I look down at my hands which are shaking violently, I look back up at her stone and say, "Do you remember what I said that night? I vowed to never love another woman, cause there is no soul on this earth like yours."

Taking a deep breath I continue, "I promise you that.. I promise to never love another woman until my dying breath.."

I felt a few raindrops fall on me but I continued to stare at her headstone letting out a breath, "What sucks, is now I have to remember you for longer than I have known you."

"I never wanted anything like this to happen." I shake my head, "I'm sorry, I failed to protect you. Maybe in another life, I'll be able to make it up to you, and I promise to find out who did this to you."

"I will avenge you," I spoke in a cold tone as I clenched my fists to my side, the sound of someone walking towards me got closer and closer until the person came to a stop right beside me.

We both stand in silence for a few moments, neither one of us turning to look at each other.

"Someone left this for you." Elena finally spoke as she looked down at Petra's grave, "I'll meet you in the car so we can discuss our next plan."

I waited a few seconds as I grabbed the piece of paper out of her hand before responding, "I'll meet you there in a few minutes."

She fully turns to me and nods her head before walking away.

I opened the envelope, and looked at what it said;

Hopefully, you got my message, we will see you soon.

-The Viper.

I wrap the piece of paper up before looking down at Petra's grave once more, "You gifted me with two children, I promise to protect them like I couldn't protect you. Until we meet again my love."

Our love might be over, but you will always be remembered as my epic love.

I will get my revenge, I'll make sure everyone knows what's coming for them.

War has officially begun.
