Petra Ramirez

As we ran out of church doors, holding onto each other's hands we quickly ran to the car. The both of us had huge smiles on our faces as we were running.

When we got to the car, Xavier opened my door to let me in. I got into the car and put on my seatbelt as he got in on his side.

Xavier quickly hit the gas and we drove off, just as we were driving I let out a sigh of relief, but as we distanced ourselves from the wedding, reality started to sink in.

My heart pounds in my chest as I realize the gravity of what I've done. I left Samuel, the person I was about to marry, standing alone at the altar on what was supposed to be our special day.

Guilt washes over me, and the car feels like it's slowing down.

"Stop the car," I said.

Xavier looks at me confused before asking, "Why?"

"Just stop the car please," I demanded as he put his foot on the brake.

I quickly get out of the car, my heart feels like it's going to pop out of my chest. I start taking big deep breaths, as Xavier gets out of the car making me turn to him, my eyes filled with confusion and guilt.

"What have I done?" I whisper, my voice trembling. The weight of my impulsive decision hits me like a ton of bricks.

Xavier looks at me, "What do you mean, Petra?"

"I never meant to hurt Samuel in this way," I said as the realization came to me that I'd made a bad mistake.

Tears start to well up in my eyes as I come to terms with the consequences of my actions.

"Okay, let's just calm down." Xavier calmly says as he places a hand on my shoulder.

"Calm down?! I just left someone at the altar Xavier and you want me to calm down?" I shouted, my heart started racing as my breath quickened.

A wave of fear washed over me, everything felt like it was closing in on me, as I struggled to catch my breath. Panic started to consume me as tears welled up in my eyes.

I could tell Xavier sensed my distress as he immediately rushed over to my side, he gently took my trembling hands in his, offering his presence.

"Petra, it's okay. I'm right here with you." He whispers soothingly.

He guides me to the car and sits me down in the passenger seat before saying, "Just focus on your breathing, darling."

I inhale and exhale slowly, as my breathing begins to steady, and the intensity of the panic starts to subside. With each word of reassurance from Xavier, it reminded me that I wasn't alone, he reminded me that I had strength and resilience, painting a picture of hope and calmness in my mind.

His unwavering support acted as a lifeline, grounding me in the present moment.

As the panic attack began to fade, I leaned into Xavier's comforting embrace. I felt a sense of safety and security, knowing that he would always be there for me. Together we sat in silence, allowing the weight of the panic to dissipate.

Xavier pulls away from the embrace, our eyes locked in with each other as he is still holding onto me. I gently put both of my hands on the side of his face, before pulling him down gently and kissing him.

He kisses me back immediately, grabbing my face with both hands. I wrap my arms around his neck as he places his hands on my waist gripping it.

"Let's go," I said in between the kisses, making Xavier stop.
