The school day went by really fast and now it's lunchtime. I walked into the cafeteria and immediately got stares from all around the room. So I stood there right in front of everyone. I looked like a deer that has just seen headlights.

Why were they staring?

I jump out of my trans when I hear a loud yell. "MIA OVER HERE" Alexis yelled from across the room. I walked over to her table, trying to avoid all the eye contact.

"Hey Alexis," I say quietly.

"Hey back, want to sit with us," she says and scooted aside. I took the seat next to her and this other girl.

The girl had medium-length chocolate brown hair which was curled. She was very pretty wearing an orange tank too and White high-waisted pants. Then across the table were other guys.

Boyfriends?

Very well could be?

One of them looks tall, with black wavy hair. It had that messy look, like when you first woke up in the morning. He was wearing a black hoodie with light jeans. The other guy had the same hairstyle, but his hair was light brown. He was wearing a green t-shirt and light jeans as well.

"Everyone this Mia, she's new. Mia this is Gracie, Ace, and Blake," Alexis says with a smile.

"Nice to meet you all," I said still staring at Ace. He was the one with black hair. He kept looking down and playing with a French fry from his lunch tray.

"Are you going to keep staring," he said finally looking at me. He had beautiful brown eyes.

"Oh sorry, I didn't mean to," I say. But he didn't care instead he just got up from the table and walked away. "What's his deal? I didn't even say anything," I ask hoping that someone would answer me.

"Don't worry you didn't do anything that's just Ace being Ace," Blake says. "So where are you from."

"I am from Ohio but moved out here for my mom's new job, she's head surgeon," I say leaving out the part of my parent's divorce.

I never really knew why they got divorced. I mean from when I was younger, they looked so In love with each other. It was only about five years ago when they started to fight a lot it was really painful to hear. I tried to ignore it, but I couldn't. So then we moved because it just got too hard for me and my mom.

Flashback

"Daddy, Daddy guess what," I say running through the door with my third-place trophy. I got top three in the 12 and under, floor routine at the gymnastics meet. I was so proud even though I was only 12.

"What, what did my little girl achieve today," he says while lifting me and setting me on the counter.

"I got third place, my floor routine got third isn't that awesome," I say with my head held high and a smile on my face.

"THIRD YOU GOT THIRD, YOU KNOW BETTER THEN THAT YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO WIN, GET FIRST EVERY TIME," he yells. I just flinch at his action I have never heard my dad yell like that before and at me. I thought I did great, well I guess not.

"Mark please now is not the timing to be yelling at her, it is just a little meet, she can't be perfect all the time for you," my mom says. He still does not react to what she just said. It's like he didn't even care.

"SHE KNOWS BETTER THEN THAT, SHE IS SUCH A DISAPPOINTMENT TO ME," He yells.

I started to cry and run up to my room dropping all my stuff even the trophy. When I reach my room with tears still dripping down my face and my parents yell coming from downstairs. I started to think.

END OF FLASHBACK

What happened?

What did I do wrong, I mean I tried my best.

I drop to the floor with my head resting on my knees trying not to cry anymore but I just couldn't help it. I cried and started breathing heavily. The yelling died down and then my door started to open.

It was mom coming in to comfort me. We both cried that night in each other's arms. I honestly think she needed to cry and let everything out more than I did.

****
"Earth to Mia," Alexis says.

"Sorry what, did someone ask me something," I say all confused I guess I blanked out for too long.

"Blake asked you something but it's too late now because the bell just rang, what do you have next."

"Nothing, I was just going to walk home."

"Oh well that's great because I have nothing to do, so do you want to go and get some coffee, on me of course," Alexis asked.

"Of course let's go," I say. She smiles back at me in excitement, and I follow her outside the school doors and to her car.
