Klaus and I walk hand-in-hand up to a cute house in Tennessee.

I wanted to stay in the car with Stefan, but Klaus said I would make his act more believable, because in his words, I look like I couldn't hurt a fly.

Which is true. I trap the fly in a glass and let it outside. But that's not important right now.

My grip on his hand tightens as I hear a woman calling the name Rudy, which I assume is a dog because she picks up a chew toy and whistles.

Klaus speeds us over when she's not looking.

"I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to scare you." Klaus says in a terrible American accent.

I have to bite down on my tongue to keep myself from bursting out into laughter.

"Can I help you?" The woman questions.

"Yeah, our car um, our car ran out of gas a couple of miles back. Eh I feel like we've been walking forever, yours is the first house we come to so I was just hoping I could use your phone?" Klaus continues with his cover story.

I nod my head, falsely confirming the story.

"Don't you have a cell phone?" She asks, suspicious of us.

"Uh yeah," he pauses taking his phone out of his pocket. "My battery died, and she left hers at the house. Look, I promise I'm not a serial killer I just wanna use your phone."

The woman sighs heavily before letting out a small "sure".

"Soo, I can come in?" Klaus asks, losing his patience.

"No, I'll get the phone and I'll bring it out to you."

I frown when I realize she'd made the situation worse for herself.

"I thought you country folks were supposed to be more trusting." Klaus says, dropping the accent and becoming annoyed.

"I'm from Florida." She retorts.

I feel Klaus drop my hand.

"Well, that explains it." He says before he grabs her throat and compels her. "Now show me a little southern hospitality. Sweet pea."

I followed directly behind Klaus as he guided the woman through house with a hand around the back of her neck.

We stop when we reach a room that's occupied by a brunette woman.

"I bet you a hundred dollars that dog ran off to a house with air conditioning." The brunette jokes.

She turns around to see Klaus holding the crying girl by the back of her neck.

"What's going on?" The brunette asks, frightened.

"Please don't be alarmed. I was told Ray Sutton lives here." Klaus speaks.

"He's almost never here. He's on the road mostly." She answers.

"But I expect he makes it home, once a month." He replies, looking at how the woman's facial expression changes. "That's what I thought. Where is he now?"

A thick silence fills the air as she remains quiet.

"If I have to make you tell me it's going to be infinitely more painful for you." Klaus threatens.

The brunette woman runs out of the kitchen and opens the front door, but Stefan is standing in the doorway.

She lets out a shrill scream.

Klaus, the first woman, and I come up behind her.

"I love it when they run!" Klaus says gleefully.

I sigh holding my head in my hands.

"He's in Tulley. It's near the border. A bar called Southern Comfort. It's on Highway 41." The brunette caves, giving up the information.

"Thank you my love." He says as he touches the blonde woman's hair. "Now, may my friend come in?"

"Yes." The woman cries.

The girls look terrified as Stefan steps through the door Klaus pushes the first woman to Stefan.

"Kill this one quickly." He pauses, looking at the other woman. "And make that one suffer. We'll be in the car.

Klaus gently grabs my hand, leading me outside.

Once we were on the porch I heard horrifying screams from the women.

I tried to turn around and look but before I can fully turn my head, a hand rests on the side of my face.

"Don't look. Let's just go to the car, okay?" Klaus smiles gently, but I can't return it.

Tears spring to my eyes as I hear their pleas from outside.

I rip my hand out of his and angrily walk to the car.

As soon as I slam the door shut, a sob escapes my lips.

I hate that people are hurting and I can't do anything to stop it. Even worse, that I'm part of the plan that got them murdered.

I hear the door open and close as Klaus slides into the drivers seat next to me.

I turn my body the other way, hiding my face in my hands.

"Love? Love, I'm sorry." Klaus apologizes, his voice soft.

I don't answer as soft silent tears fall from my eyes.

I feel Klaus's hand gently wrap around my wrist, pulling it away from my face to reveal my flushed, tear stained cheeks.

"What can I do?" He asks, unable to hide his pained expression.

"Nothing. I just feel so bad. I feel like it's my fault. I should've done something." I answer, my voice faltering.

"Hey, hey, hey. This is not your fault. I'm sorry, I shouldn't have made you come inside."

"I shouldn't have agreed to go. I feel like a monster." I sob.

"No. You are not a monster, Ivy. You are an angel. Do not put my actions on your conscience." He comforts me, wiping the tears off my face.

I don't get a chance to respond as Stefan opens the car door, causing me to pull back from his touch immediately.

I can't explain the connection I feel to Klaus, it's like we're tethered somehow. No matter how much I try to bury the feeling, it bubbles to the surface.

I find comfort in his presence, his words, his touch.

I know I shouldn't, he's a killer. But no matter how hard I try to be...I'm not scared of him anymore.

I'm brought back to reality by Stefan speaking.

"Let's go. We're done here."

I stare out of the window, watching the trees fly by as Klaus drives away.
