Aaliyah sat on the edge of her bed, her mind filled with different emotions. The memories of her abusive mother's face had caused her nightmares to replace her dreams once again, leaving her shaken and vulnerable. "And did." I hear Sasha say. "Hey best you okay?" I hear Asia say and I pass Aaliyah the phone.

After we got off the group Facetime call, I ordered us food to eat since it was around 3:30 PM. "Aaliyah you need to eat," I say pushing the food back in front of her. "I'm not hungry Jacie." She says yelling at me. I sigh trying to calm myself, I usually don't tolerate yelling and raising your voice at me but she's going through something and I'm trying to be understanding. "Respectfully, I don't give two fucks if you're hungry. Eat on your own before I shove it down for you." I say picking up my fork and eating my fried rice. I got us Chinese food from the spot down the street from the complex. I watch as she picks up her fork and begins to eat too. "Thank you, mama. I'm sorry for threatening you. I just wanted you to eat something so you'll feel better." I say looking at her and continuing to eat. I knew she was hungry but I also knew she was being stubborn because she's still sad. She's not as sad as she was a few days ago so it's some improvement. "Thank you." I hear her say making me get out of my thoughts. "What for?" I am confused. "Everything.
