Aaliyah's POV:
I walk into Victoria's Secret and head to the lingerie section. I texted the trio group chat saying I need to call them when I get to my place and look through the racks. I pulled out three sets I liked and made sure they were my size before heading to the register. I'm glad Jacie didn't come in with me. She's been paying for all my stuff and while it's nice, I work hard for my money and like spending it too. I walk out of the store walking over to Jacie. She looks good today like she does every day but today she has her hair out and it looks good. "Hey, I'm ready to go," I say standing in front of her. "Ight come on. We can pick ice cream otw back to the apartment because we gotta be at the airport soon." She stands up grabbing my VS bag and I roll my eyes. "Jacie I can carry my own stuff." She's carrying like 5 bags of mine and the 3 she has clothes and stuff in for herself. "It's fine, come on." We walk towards an escalator heading to the mall exit. "Mama, can you get the keys out of my jacket pocket please?" I smile, I don't know what it is but every time she calls me Ma or Mama it makes me happy. I get the car keys out of her pocket and unlock the car door, she puts the bags in the trunk and opens my door. "Thank you, baby." I smile at her and she smiles at me. As she gets in and car and turns it on, I put in an ice cream shop into my Maps and plug in the aux.
"Let's go shawty you gon make us late." I roll my eyes and grab my bags. After we got our ice cream Jacie got a phone call and started acting mean as fuck for no reason. "Jacie you can drive yourself since you wanna be on time so fucking bad," I say throwing the keys on the counter towards her. Like I said I don't know what the fuck happened to change her mood but she's not about to take it out on me. "Aaliyah stop playing and get in the fucking car." I grab my bags but she snatches them out of my hand. I huff and walk to the car, getting inside and slamming the car door. I get on my phone as she loads the trunk and see Asia called me and I missed it. I click on her contact name and Facetime her, waiting for it to connect. "Hey best- what's wrong?" She says once she sees my face. "Jacie is being a bitch and honestly I'm about to say fuck this whole damn trip," I yell. "Best it's okay just breathe." I sniff feeling tears build up in my eyes. "I don't even know what happened Asia. We went to the mall and had a great time and we got ice cream. But when we got back here she got a phone call and her whole fucking mood changed." I say as I feel tears run down my face and I quickly wipe them away. "Best just calm down. She's wrong as hell for taking whatever it is out on you but just tell her how you feel and don't yell. Because you know you get a little hot-headed when you feel like people aren't hearing you. It's okay I'm sure she doesn't mean to. Are y'all otw here?" She says looking off in the distance. "Yeah, we're leaving now she's packing the bags." I look out the back window and see she's coming out the apartment building door heading to the car. "She's coming now. I'll let you know what our ETA is. Love you." "Okay. Love you too" I hang up the phone just as she gets in the car.
"Baby, what's going on?" I say breaking the silence in the car. "Nothing.' I sigh and roll my eyes. "Stop rolling yo damn eyes at me Aaliayh." "Then stop being so fucking dismissive and I wouldn't be doing the shit Jacie." I hate when she calls me my name. I realize it's only in serious conversations that she calls me it, other times it's either Liyah, Ma, or Mama, and occasionally baby. I hear her sigh. "I'm sorry ma okay? It's just shit going on." "Then tell me that instead of being hard-headed. We're supposed to talk to each other about everything Jai." I say looking over at her and seeing her nod her head. "It was my grandma." Now I feel bad for snapping at her. I know how difficult it was for her growing up with her grandmother. "What did she want?" I say furrowing my eyebrows. "To see what I was doing. She always does that shit, then wanna say ima bad granddaughter for not coming by to see her." I see her grip the steering wheel tighter. I grab her free hand and hold it. She smiles. "I'm sorry I snapped at you. I just didn't like that you let that affect us. But fuck her fr and you aren't a bad granddaughter, she's a bad grandmother." She laughs a little, "And I'm sorry shouldn't have done that and I didn't even realize I was taking it out on you. I was just upset because it happens at least once a month, more when it's a holiday." I nod and lean over to kiss her cheek and she turns her head so I kiss her lips instead. "Jacie drives the car," I say laughing and pushing her head away from me. "Girl you acting like you don't like my kisses." "I don't" I smirk. "Oh really? Bet that." I look at her. "Hold now- Nah stand on that." She interrupts me. I laugh with her and I close my eyes feeling tired.
I feel someone shaking me and I open my eyes mugging whoever it is. I look up seeing Asia standing over me. "Hoe I should beat yo ass," I say raspy. "Yeah yeah, come on." I unbuckle my seatbelt, getting out of the car. I stretch and take in my surroundings. We are on a tarmac and it's a plane a little ways in front of us. I see Jacie standing over by Anthony and JJ laughing. "So yall good now?" Asia asks as we walk over to them. I shake my head and smile. "Y'all so cute." I feel my face getting hot and I smile harder. Jacie looks over towards us seeing us walking over to them and smiles at me. "Hey ma." She says as we get over to them. I smile and hide my face in her neck as she wraps her arms around my waist. "You okay?" I nod my head, looking at her. She pecks my lips and I kiss her back. "Ight get a fucking room." "Right ion wanna see that shit." I laugh at the boys. "Y'all can stfu fr," Jacie says mugging them. "Chill Shoota we was playing," JJ says grabbing bags and walking towards the plane. Shoota? I think to myself. I know she's in her dad's gang but I never knew she had a nickname in it. I'll have to ask her about it later. I felt her tense as he said the name. I feel her pulling me towards the plane, I stop looking at her confused. "You have a private plane?" I say shocked. "My dad owns a couple of em'. This one is in my name though. Keep walking Ma" Jacie says walking me towards the stairs of the plane.
As we walk up the stairs to the plane, I feel my heart pounding in my chest. This is my first time flying. I tighten my hold on Jacie's hand tightly. Jacie notices my nervousness and turns around to face me. "Hey, it's going to be okay, Ma," she says, pulling me into a hug, and rubbing my back. I smile nervously at her. As we step inside the cabin, I take in the interior. It's nice, with a cream interior with red seats, a minibar, and a snack section. The seats are facing the other seats and there are tables in between each. "You can pick any spot, I'll be right beside you Ma," Jacie says to me. I smile pick a window seat and put on the seatbelt. "Ight niggas let's go," Ant says. Asia and Ant are seated in front of us and I look at Asia's face and she looks at me reassuringly. I smile at her. Sasha and JJ are across from us talking to each other.
I feel my stomach begin to hurt as I hear the plane engine roaring. "Ma it's okay. Here." Jacie hands me her AirPods. "Yo ears might pop a little bit when we go up but the music should help." I nod and put the airpods in seeing her go to a playlist and hit shuffle. I hear Key Glcok's voice start playing over the plane engine. I look out the window and see the plane going down the runway about to lift off and I grab Jacie's hand. I feel her thumb caressing the back of my hand and I look at her and smile. She's so sweet to me and I love how she reassures me, I need to tell her that when I calm down.
As the plane is in the air, I take out the AirPods and give them back to Jaice. "Thank you," I say and kiss her lips. "No problem Ma." She kisses my lips again. "So much for not kissing me. What happened to 'stand on that.'." I smirk at her. "Girl I was being nice and fine fuck you." I laugh at her getting upset. I yawn and lay my head against her shoulder. "You cold?" I shake my head no and close my eyes. "Not you going to sleep." "Mhm." I hum not opening my eyes. "Sleep well, mama." I hear Jacie say as I fall asleep.
