Falling For You

Chapter Thirty

I absentmindedly pressed down on the gas pedal of Tessa's car focusing on the way to get to Kylie's. I needed to be driving right now to keep my mind busy and off anything that had to do with the doctor's. If I could I would have kept driving just going where ever but Justin was waiting at Kylie's.

He texted me shortly after the appointment was over and said to meet him at Kylie's because he had something. I knew it was a dog and prior to the appointment I would have been excited but my mind was distracted now. The only thing I could think about was what I was going to tell Justin because I had to on the off chance that I was him and not Martin. But then would I have tell him about Martin?

"Guys, what do I tell Justin?" I was in too deep on this one. 

Tessa hummed, thinking of a response, "I say just tell him what is going to happen; they took blood and are going to run some tests. You have nothing to tell right now, nothing is for sure."

I nodded and my stomach turned, I felt even worse about not telling him about Martin now because lies only build. Of course this wasn't really a lie but in the end it was because of a lie. 

Before I knew it we were pulling into Kylie's driveway, I quickly parked the Audi and turned the ignition off. Kylie reached from the backseat and laid a hand on my shoulder, "It's all going to be okay. We're here for you. Just tell him what Tessa said and think about the dog, yeah?"

I took a deep breath before following them to the front door. Kylie paused giving me time to prepare myself even though that wasn't really possible. I slowly nodded and walked in behind them. Justin's voice could already be heard from where we stood and by the sounds of it he was it the back room with the other dogs. 

Following the noise the boys slowly became visible and Justin's face was the last one I seen. The small dog in front of him was fighting him and Ernie for the chew toy and honestly, I had to admit it was cute. 

When Justin finally looked up I smiled a half smile and he quickly stood hugging me, "Babe, hey! I got the puppy."

I smiled, "I see that."

"It's a girl, she's about nine weeks old. Pretty sure Ryan is already attached." I tried my best to give a believable laugh but failed and the smile that covered his face disappeared, "How'd the appointment go?"

"Okay, they took some blood so I have to wait a few days for the results." My face was slowly starting to give away my small lie so I turned my attention to the puppy. She was black and as much as I had on my mind it warmed my heart that Justin got her for me.

"What do you want your name to be, huh?" I used my best puppy voice, leaning down to pick her up. During Justin and I's interaction she had won the toy from Ernie and it was hanging from her mouth. Kylie and Tessa both made their way to me while throwing out suggestions.

"So I was thinking on the way home and I came up with a bunch of names, but I love and I feel like you would love - Rosie?" Kylie offered, raising an eyebrow. 

I nodded, "Yeah, maybe."

Tessa petted her in my hands while talking, "What about Dot? Like from A Bug's Life, you used to love that movie right? Could maybe call her Dottie too?"

"Both great suggestions, I think we should just wait it out, let her pick her name." They both agreed and I put her down, letting her go back to the war with Ernie and now Normie.

I sat in the yard next to Justin's pool watching and laughing as Esther growled lowly at the new puppy. Esther instantly didn't like her and had been following her around everywhere and growling at her when she got too close to anyone. It was cute but Justin rolled his eyes, "I hate you all, this is important. They need to like each other."

Her rubbed Esther in an attempt to calm her and although it worked Esther still watched her. Kylie picked up the puppy before sitting next to me in the grass, "I have four dogs now, they do this, Jay. She's territorial."

Contrary to my beliefs the puppy was a great distraction for everything and a welcome one. Yes, it had managed to cross my mind a few times but never long enough to effect my mood. I looked over to Justin who was still petting Esther and smiled earning one back. 

The people around me had come to mean so much to me in such little time it was crazy. Even Ryan and Za I felt like completed our little circle of friends. I had shit going on in my life, yeah, but who didn't? Regardless of what I was going through right now I'm glad that I am going through it with these people. 

Bringing me back from my thoughts Ryan spoke, "This what we're doing for the rest of the night?"

Justin shrugged, "I know Martin was tryin' to Facetime later, figured I could put it up on the tv and we could see what's going on."

I instantly looked towards Tessa who waved me over to the back patio, "Uh, I'm gonna go talk to Tessa real quick and I'll be back over." 

Justin nodded and I followed Tessa over where she spoke in a low whisper, "So I was thinking and I don't wanna freak you out but you said you used a condom with Justin, right? Well did you with Martin?"

I racked my brain from memories of that night but the truth was I couldn't remember. The more time that past I forgot little any little detail that I could even remember from that night. Time and alcohol didn't help the memory. I whispered back although I knew we were out of the others' earshot, "I really can't remember, Tessa. Fuck."

She crossed her arms and thought for a second, "You might have to call Martin and ask him."

I sighed and ran my hand through my messy hair. The last thing I wanted to do was talk to Martin and certainly not to talk about that night, but I knew I had to because that was the only way to get my answer.

Tessa broke my thoughts, "Because either he didn't and it's him or the condom broke with one of them."
