Chapter Thirty-Eight

Staring into his eyes, my heart wanted me to feel bad for his sudden sadness, but my mind wouldn't let me until I got  an explanation as to why he couldn't tell me his plans when he left, instead of leaving me to cry myself to sleep all those nights.

Pulling away from Seth, and putting distance between us, considering just leaving, when I finally found my voice, and turned around quickly to face him once more, "Your best friend?" I spoke my confusion bleeding with anger, staring straight into his eyes, watching as he carefully followed my every move, his expression unreadable, "Your bother?" I continued my annoyance slipping into my words, "And I guess I can only suppose I wasn't good enough to know any of this, to know you even had a brother! I guess it was better for you to leave me here without a word anyways, letting me to assume you left because you realized you were still in love with this Nicole girl." I stopped, taking a deep breath, trying to calm my pounding heart.

"Corinne, I-" He stumbled to find words, and before he could attempt to continue, I opened my mouth once more.

"Do you not even care that I cried myself to sleep? Does it even matter to you that when you were gone I had no idea what your goodbye meant, and it tormented me day after day?You left me bleeding, Seth. You left me with a few words, goodbye being the only one I seemed to remember. You hurt me Seth. " I  finished, taking a deep breath and biting into my tongue.

Seth closed the distance between us once more before I could protest, and held each side of my face in his hands, his thumbs softly rubbing along my cheek bones, as tears stung the back of my eyes.

Staring at him, I took a deep breath, and felt my body shiver involuntarily, enjoying his soft touch that I had been missing for some time. 

Standing there, my eyes drifted to his lips, my mind off running, recalling the feel of his soft lips on mine, and remembering his sweet taste that had my stomach flipping, but quickly shoved the thoughts aside, I bit harder into my tongue, determined to hold my ground.
