Beacon

I am threatened by a rabid bleakness,

its void lingers and lingers.

With dripping fangs it craves me,

the emptiness of its breath darkens.

.

With gloomy claws it assaults,

its piercing eyes haunt.

I am sustained daily by a heartful glow,

a vision of beauty, my beacon that saves.

.

By your light the bleakness is blinded,

all that threatens fades at your name.

Through your eyes I wander from my sorrows,

how often your captured smile bears my day.

.

Seperated by more than time, only in dreams do we meet,

yet taunts of your presence are my delight.

I'm sure the favor of your gaze is the breath of life,

your shadow the fancy of hope.

.

With noble sentiments that most would judge,

my heart has declared unto you a thousand odes.

Without knowing, you've led me to who I am,

without knowing, you've pardoned my sentence.

.

So much I've taken from you, wretched soul that I am,

unable to repay what is priceless.

What offering could I lay at your feet,

what sacrifice could equal my thanks?
