Hemorrhaging

Dare I expose my soul?

Dare I expose my pounding, bleeding heart?

So many take such careful aim with firey arrows.

"No risk no gain." Bah!

Whoever uttered those words never knew my pain.

My heart continues to bleed within me, there is no outlet.

Will my mind drown in my own blood?

Though I am surrounded by legions I remain in solitude.

Though I have the favor of authorities I struggle with despair.

I wear my mask among my countrymen.

They cannot bear the taste of my mind, I cannot bear their bite.

In my own darkness I find the familiar touch of my sorrows.

No one can harm me there.
