Chapter 74: Ace of Spades

A messenger arrived last morning and gave me the invitation. Medyo nagulat pa ako because it took shorter than I expected. After all, matino naman pala na kausap si Senator Vargara.

The invitation is nothing extravagant. It's made out of a black glossy paper at sa harap nun ay logo ng isang ahas. The same snake that I saw on the forearms of those people sa mga pictures na ipinakita sa'kin ni Blaise noon. Sa likod nun ay may nakasulat na cellphone number and the words "abbyseus toreises" that I suppose the secret code.

I massaged my temples. Biglang sumakit ang ulo ko. Sigurado talaga ako na nakita ko na tong ahas before but no matter how much I think of it, hindi ko talaga maalala. It's like a jar placed in a high part of a cabinet na pilit kong inaabot pero kahit anong gawin kong talon ay hindi ko talaga maabot.

"Are you okay, babe?" Blaise asked and I felt his hand on my shoulder.

I looked at him and nodded. "This logo.. I'm certain that I've seen it before pero hindi ko lang maalala kung saan" I said

"Nakita mo yan doon sa mga pictures na ipinakita ko sa'yo nun, remember? Those foreigners who are rumored na nagpapasok ng drugs dito that I think totoo nga considering that this invitation has that snake symbol that they also have. Probably it's their logo or what" he explained

"It's not just that.. the first time I saw those pictures too, naisip ko na rin na nakita ko na yun dati. I just can't remember where or when pero sigurado talaga ako. I've seen this before" I said frustratedly

He just looked at me then he pulled me to him. Isinandal ko ang ulo ko sa dibdib niya and closed my eyes.

"Do not be too hard on yourself. Kung talagang nakita mo na ang logo na yan before, for sure it will come back to you naturally. I've had that experience before. Mayroon akong title ng movie na pilit kong inaalala nun then one morning it just occurred to me. I literally woke up and that's the first thing my mind came up with"

He then parted from me at seryoso niya akong tiningnan.

"You've been on the throne for a short time but you have already achieved so much. Mas marami ka pang nagawa na kung tutuusin kaysa sa'kin. Now, we're like how many steps away from finding out who is really Day Lighter. So don't be too hard on yourself. It's okay to not figure out things all at once"

I smiled at that then pulled him closer for a kiss. Gumaan talaga ang pakiramdam ko sa sinabi niya na yun and I didn't even know that I needed to hear that until he said it.

Everything is under control. I just hope that one day I will wake up too na naaalala na kung saan ko nakita ang snake logo na yun. Because I can actually feel that it is important na malaman ko yun.

I will be damned to tell dad straightly that I am going to Day Lighter's headquarters so I told him instead that I am going to a party.

Hindi naman mahirap paniwalaan yun since I intend to wear a dress and it's Saturday. Napagkasunduan namin apat nina Blaise, Jayden, at Wayne that we will wear something formal so we will not draw any attention. Senator Vergara said na ang mga nagpupunta roon ay mga mayayaman who tends to do gambling so we need to just blend in.

"Hey sis, saan ka pupunta? And what is this?" my eyes widened when Rennan just grabbed the invitation from my bed.

"Jeez, akin na yan!" I yelled at him at mabilis na inagaw yun sa kanya. Napataas ang kilay ko when I realize na wala siyang reaksyon dahil parang may iniisip siya.

"Pwede bang patingin ulit?" he asked. Nagtataka man ay ipinakita ko pa rin sa kanya.

He held it again at matagal na tinitigan ang logo ng ahas.
