This way. I led the others towards wherever Kaldur and Percy are.

Roy, Wally, Artemis and I are all in pressurized suits. Bruce let us borrow them after I told him  about what happened.

We neared a...palace?

Maybe that princess reported him. Wally said.

It would be your fault if she did. Artemis looked over at him.

I sighed and kept swimming, noticing that something was going on in the courtyard.

Follow me.

My feet hit the ocean floor and I looked around the corner.

Kaldur rushed at Percy with blades of water. She darted away and suddenly Kaldur froze.

"This is not fair." He spoke, not even struggling.

"Well, do you want to use swords or do you want to talk to them?" Percy turned to stare at where I was standing.

I tried to duck back around the corner but...I couldn't. The water seemed to push us all forward until we were standing in front of our teammates.

A merman I didn't notice earlier swam forward. "Are they bothering you, your-"

"No, it's cool. How about you go make some report to my dad or something?" Percy waved a hand.

"You're still injured. I know your father can do much, however, it would be best for you to be in bed until you are completely healed."

"Go."

The merman swallowed. "Of course."

"What are you doing here?" Kaldur asked us, putting away his waterbearers.

I narrowed my eyes behind my mask when I saw Pecy put a hand on his arm.

"Kaldur, can we talk to you? Alone?" Artemis crossed her arms.

He looked at Percy. She pressed her lips together and she twisted her ring...

Wait.

Kaldur has a ring too.

You think that's how she controls him? Roy asked.

Maybe.

"I'll go talk to Tyson. If I don't come back, either he accidentally killed me or Triton killed me on purpose."

Kaldur watched as she shot away before shaking his head. "This way."

He led us into the palace, acting like he had been there many times before.
He might have been since a lot of the servants risked a small wave before getting back to work.

"Are you here a lot?" Megan asked.

"I am usually only here with Percy." He swam through an open door and allowed us into the room before closing it. "What did you wish to speak about?"

When we didn't answer, he spoke.

"She is not a risk to the Team."

"We know nothing about her!" Artemis yelled. "We know more about Robin than we know about her and we don't even know his name!"

Kaldur sighed, looking at the floor. "Percy is my best friend. We have been since we were children. I would do anything to keep her from harm."

He swallowed and rubbed at his neck.

"If she's on this team, you can't favor her safety over the mission." I said.

"Robin, I..." He groaned. "I am so going to die for this."

"What?" Connor asked.

"I promised her when we were eight that I would protect her from anyone who tried to hurt her, no matter what happened to me." He twisted the ring.

"How are you wearing that dude? Your hands are webbed." Wally swam over and grabbed Kaldur's wrist.

"Magic. It is of a matching set, Percy got me this for my birthday a few years ago."

"And what does it do?" Roy asked.

"Glamour charm." Kaldur said. "It is not very strong so it can only hide scars."

"Wait, scars from what?" I asked.

"It does not matter." He pulled the ring off and slipped into into a pocket.

I could see a few scars on his shoulders and...

My eyebrows drew together and I swam over to him.

"What are those from?" I pointed at his neck.

He rubbed at it again and I realized earlier he was rubbing the scars.

"When I was fourteen..." he sighed. "I tried to slit my throat."

My jaw dropped and I tackled him in a hug. He tensed before wrapping his arms around me.

"H-how...why?!" Wally yelled along with Roy.

I looked up at Kaldur whose shoulders had dropped.

"I used one of my water bearers to create a blade. But when I did it, I guess I did not cut deep enough. Percy discovered me half dead in my room. She risked killing me in order to save me."

Megan swam over and opened her mouth to say something but-

"Get back here you half-blood!"

"That's not an insult Triton!"

Kaldur laughed. "The only reason he has not killed her yet is because of what their father would do."

He released me from his grasp before moving to sit down. We all followed his example, watching as he practically folded up on himself.

"Did...did you ever try again?" Wally asked.

Kaldur shook his head. "I cannot. The reason I did so to begin with, is the reason I cannot now."

"And what is that?" Connor asked.

"Percy. She means more to me...to the underwater kingdoms, and to the gods than you can imagine. If she were to perish..." His eyes seemed to darken. "I would die."

"So she does have control over you!"

Kaldur shook his head. "You must understand. The control she has over me...I gave it to her. I cannot take it away, but I do not care about that "

I stared at him, not seeing any sign if him lying.

"And how can we be sure you're telling the truth?" Artemis questioned. "If she does control-"

"She did not control me when I gave my life to her. She never controlled me before that day. Not when I would stand up to her bullies and not when I would place myself in front of her to protect her from her step-father!"

His eyes widened and he looked away. "I am going to die for that."

Welp, this sucks

A lot

But

I haven't eaten yet and I got some sleep. Not a lot but...I need to go do homework and maybe plant some more bulbs and set up a rock garden.
