I waited in anticipation to see what would happen next. The van stopped moving a while ago. I couldn't see outside the window because it was so dark.
"Where are we?", Josie snapped at one of our captors.
Leave it to Josie to think yelling would do us any good.
The man in the mask struck the side of her face with his gun.
"Lower your damn voice.", He snapped back.
Jennifer's eyes widened.
"Don't touch my daughter!"
Suddenly, the doors of the van open.
We were at a pier. There was a single ship by the deck.
"Get out of the van. Keep your heads low and walk to the deck and get on that ship."
We all obeyed. We all fearfully did what he said.
As soon as we got on the ship, we were greeted by a staff. They all wore navy blue and white uniforms.
"Good Afternoon. Welcome to the SOS ship. We hope you enjoy your stay."
"SOS?", Joey questioned.
The staff ignored his question and gave us pamphlets.
"Your room numbers and keys are at the front desk."
"What the hell is going on? They kidnapped us to treat us to a cruise?", Josie asked.
We all walked to the front desk.
"Alright, Ms. Fisher will be rooming with her son, Neal will be with Jesse, and Josie will be sharing a room with Rocco."
He handed us our keys.
"Why am I staying with 'him'?", Josie yelled.
"You have randomly been placed, Miss Parks."
"Where's Jesse?", Jennifer asked.
"He's in his room."
Neal nearly ran in the other direction.
"What about me? , Lilly asked.
"Well, you weren't supposed to be on this cruise, so I'll figure it out. Stay right here."
The guy walked into his office.
"Josie, go see your room. I'll be fine."
The two girls hugged and then we all went to see our rooms.
Josie and I went to our room.
The first thing we spotted was the single king-sized bed.
"You have got to be fucking kidding me. They actually expect us to share a bed.", Josie complained.
I rolled my eyes.
"Come on. It's not that serious."
"Then sleep on the flo-"
I looked down at her when she stopped talking.
"What?"
"Malcolm..", she said softly as she sat on the bed.
"Malcolm?"
"My fiancé. I'm never going to see him again."
She wiped away a stray tear.
I haven't seen Josie cry in a long time. She was always so strong around everyone.
I sat down next to her. I made her look at me and wiped her tears away.
"Hey, we're getting out of here. I promise. I won't let anything happen you. You have my word."
She nodded.
"You really love him?"
"He loves me, Rocco."
"That's not what I asked."
She pulled away from me.
"What are you getting at?"
"I just want you to be happy. Josie, we used to be so close. You were my best friend. You were more than my best friend. You were-"
"What? What was I, Rocco?"
"You were Josie. You was Joey's little sister and you were there when my family fell apart and I had to come live with yours. You were my family."
"Well, that was a long time ago. You're not anything to me.", she said before walking out the room.
"You're right."
Well, this was gonna be a long journey.
