The dance is today, and I do not know why I am nervous. I was up all-night thinking; thinking about nothing, something is just bothering me. "Hey, Rose, it's time to go to training." Kyle says softly, slightly touching my shoulder. I turn over, knowing that I look terrible since I have been turning over and over and haven't shut an eye. "What's going on?" He asks sitting on my bed beside me as I move over.

"I don't know. I couldn't sleep." I sit up slowly and push my hair back. "It might be because I never went to a dance or ever danced for that matter."

"Oh no, I cannot have my roommate embarrass me. Come here." He says smiling, getting up and holding his hand out.

"Are you serious?" I ask as he grabs my hand and pulls me out of bed. "I don't have to dance."

"No, you are. Clint loves to dance with girls." Kyle places his hand around my waist and brings my other arm up to where my hand meets his. "Now it's all about the sway." He says slowly considering my eyes, as I do the same with his hazel eyes. I move my body with his and let him direct me until he slowly pushes me down and his face follows mine, he drags me back up but turns me around to where I lie against his chest. I turn my face to the side where I can feel Kyle breathing. His arms are wrapped around me and we don't move; just sway from side to side.

"Kyle, why is it that I am so comfortable around you and your friends?" I ask quietly, trying to break the silence.

"I don't know, maybe we're your friends-mate, almost like soulmates but instead it's friends." I giggle some and then stop swaying keeping my hands on his hands. "Rose," He whispers quietly.

I look at the clock on the wall, "I'm going to be late." I say quickly and let go of him and moving out of his grasp. I quickly put on my clothes in the bathroom and tie my hair up and run out the door. "Thanks for the dancing lessons, I'll see you later." I then leave the building running as fast as I can to the gym.

"Rose, glad you could join us." Al says tying his shoes.

"Sorry, didn't sleep good last night." I say out of breath. "Let's just get started."

"I saw your dress," Isaac says from behind. "Looks pretty."

"Alright, that's enough." Al then says getting up. "Isaac, I gave you tips yesterday, so show me what you got."

Isaac backs up and cracks his neck, he then charges for me, I look at his feet movement and can tell that is about to dodge. As he gets close, I don't attack yet, I bow up at him and he dodges. Got you. I then swift my feet under his and he drops to the floor. "How?!" He calls out in anger.

"Your feet, you were going to slow, I knew you would dodge first so I caught you off guard." I say smiling.

"Wow, I didn't even notice that." Al says scratching his head. "Rose, I don't think you even need training. I'll talk to the committee about changing your schedule and take you out of this class; I have to do this with your brother, too."

"There is no need to." I say politely.

"Trust me, you would be wasting your time here." He says pulling Isaac up.

After training I head back to the dorms, meeting Kyle out our door. "Did you get locked out?" I ask smiling pulling my key out of my pocket.

"Yeah, I forgot my key." He says putting his hand behind his head. I unlock the door and walk in where Jay, Clint, James, and Lonnie are playing around. "And our friends snuck in and decided to leave me out here."

I couldn't help but smile because Kyle said 'our friends' that includes me and Jay. Jay deserves to have friends and have a good time; he always had to deal me and our parents and had to train everyday. "Hey! What the hell is happening here?" I ask loudly and they all stop play fighting.

"I have a key to the apartment and when we heard Kyle outside it was a golden opportunity to lock him out." Lonnie says pushing James off him.

"What time is the dance?" I then ask.

"It's at six, so four hours from now." Clint says getting up, brushing himself off. "So, I guess you should be getting your makeup and hair done?"

"I'm not that much of a girl, Clint. Trust me it will not take me long to get ready." I say going to the bed and pulling out my new sketchbook; I begin to draw the main building; which is a Greek style with white posts; scratches and some broken pieces due to the war.

I start to hum an unknown melody. "Rose?" Jay calls my name and I look up after sketching out a post. I look up at him and he raises his eyebrows smiling. "Your humming."

"Oh sorry." I say immediately looking down at my drawing.

"Are you not allowed to hum?" Kyle asks confused and the rest have the same confused look.

"Our parents don't like noise so I'm glad that she is humming." I hear Jay respond but I am paying attention to my drawing.

I continued to draw and managed to finish the building, the landscape, and color the whole picture. I look over to see Jay listening to music and watching Kyle, Clint, Lonnie, and James take turns playing games on a computer. I look up to the clock and see that it is five thrity. "I'm going to get ready." I say quickly still looking at the clock and rush into the bathroom to see everybody else's tux also hanging up. I unzip the dress out of the bag and put it on. I zip the back on and cut the water; I put my hands under it and run them through my hair, to where it is damped. I brush my bangs down and pull my hair back to a low ponytail as a few strands dangled beside my face to my cheek. I pinch my cheeks to make them red and go out the bathroom.

They all stare at me the same way they stared at me when I first tried it on, "Well? Does it look okay?" I ask nervously, still unsure about their feelings on the dress.

"Beautiful." Kyle and Clint say in unison.

"We need to get our tux's on so hurry up. We can't let a girl be better at dressing faster than us." James says going into the bathroom. One by one they came out and I had to help put their ties on.

"Thanks Rose." Kyle says as I tie his tie.

"Well you helped me with my dancing skills so..." I trail off raising my eyebrows, but also because the dance had been on my mind. Our bodies were close together and the way he looked at me made me want to melt. I snapped back to reality and finish tying his tie. Clint then sits down smiling and I begin tying.

"So, you had Kyle help you dance? Oh my, I don't know if I want to see you dance then; Kyle has some wacky moves." He says sarcastically and making me laugh. Kyle comes over and pushes Clint causing me to drop his tie and I put my hand on Clint's neck to keep him from moving anymore or falling sideways. Clint looks at me smiling but realizing my hands are on him; his face changes sincere and to an emotional state. I take my gaze off him and go back to his tie.

"Rose, come here." Jay demands standing outside the doorway. I nod and finish Clint's tie and head towards Jay.

"What is it?" I ask folding my arms and leaning against the door. "Is something wrong?"

"No, everything's fine. I wanted to give you this." He hands me a dagger with purple stones along the handle. "It goes with the dress and I knew you would want a weapon."

"I take the dagger and stare at it for a moment, "Thank you." I say quietly.

"I bought it after you got your dress." He says excited and then his face falls, "Do you not like it?"

"No, I love it, it's just I haven't carried a weapon since the demon attack." I put my arms around him and hugged him.

"I know. I forgot what the world is really like out there. We still have to be alert; this place can still get attacked."

"Yeah," I say sighing. I pull my dress up to put my knife in my boot. "You ready?" I ask more optimistic to lighten the mood.

"Yeah." He says smiling, rolling his eyes then laughing.
