"You're like poison"

I sigh as I stand and stretch. I was hoping to have a better night's sleep than I did, but I wasn't surprised that I wasn't able to. The bed was too big and cushy, and everything seemed too pristine. Dog didn't mind at all.

Soon enough, I heard rummaging outside my room. Looking at the clock, it read 7:32 AM. I walk out sitting on one of the bar stools as Reagan pushes me a bowl of cereal. I take it and dig in, giving in to the hunger raging in my stomach.

"I thought you would like it if I showed you around the pack today. After we're done eating, we can head out." I nod, pushing my empty bowl forward. But then scrunch my eyebrows together in confusion.

"What about Corban? Will he be around." Reagan shakes her head a smirk playing on her lips as she infers why I want to see him.

"No, he's running with the scouts today." I nod and take another bite of cereal.

"Okay, yeah, that's alright, I guess." Reagan nods, taking my bowl and putting it in the sink. I go back to my room and walk straight to my bathroom, splashing myself with cold water. When Reagan said that Corban would be away, I couldn't help but feel disappointed. I couldn't stop thinking about him, and the annoying buzz in my head didn't help. It was ironic. He had almost kissed me. Logically I couldn't deny that our bond was growing even though we were apart, and now that we are in the same place, I can't see him. It was infuriating. I just wanted to talk to him. So badly. Being here wasn't helping the pull at all.

"Pull yourself together," I mutter, splashing myself with more water. I need to push all thoughts of him out and get through this day.

I take a deep breath as I walk back out to meet Reagan, who looks all ready to go. "Well, I think I have everything." She says, looping her knitted purse over her shoulder. "Ready to mosey?" She says, looking up at me.

"Yeah." We walk out and down a mess of hallways, and I think I've already forgotten my way back to the room.

"I want to show you outside first." She smiles. "That way, you know your way around outside." I nod and follow close to her. We exit, and I take a deep breath. Holy hell, I missed this. The smell of the trees and forest is intoxicating. I had only been inside for a night, and it was still too much.

"So... this is The East Atlantic pack." I nod. I look through the trees and see large hills that turn to rocky cliffs. I look over to where I see a group of people gathered and people fighting in the center. I notice Easton is one of the fighters. I had totally misjudged him. His size was his strength, and he knew it. I wandered over to where the group was entranced by his fighting. I heard Reagan following after me muttering incoherent words under her breath.

"What are they doing?" I question.

"Sparring. We have to stay fit somehow, so we spar a lot. It's also a good way to get some anger out." I nod and walk closer to the ring. Easton spots me and quickly finishes off his opponent.

"Ember!" he calls out and runs over to Reagan and I.

"That was really impressive," I say, gesturing to the ring. He smirks.

"I know, right. I'm totally undefeated." Reagan rolls her eyes.

"Oh please, Corban has you on your ass every time you two spar." I couldn't help but feel proud of Corban. Corban. Where was he?
