Koreans have 2 different ways for counting, the Native and Sino Korean way. Koreans prefer to use the S.K. way. But there are times when you can't use the S.K. way. Counting age, counting hours, counting months.. and many more.
Number (숫자: soot-ja)
Sino Korean way.
1 - 일 ~ il
2- 이 ~ ee
3 - 삼 ~ saam
4 - 사 ~ sa
5 - 오 ~ oh
6 - 육 ~ yook
7 - 칠 ~ chil
8 - 팔 ~ pal
9 - 구 ~ gu
10 - 십 ~ shib
11 ~ you take ten (십) and add one (일) = 십일
21 ~ two (이) ten (십) one (일) = 이십일
31 ~ three (삼) ten (십) one (일) = 삼십일And so on and so forth
100 = 백 (baek.. like Baek Hyun ><)
101 = 백일 (baek-il)
111 = 백십일 (baek-shib-il)1000 = 천 (chun)
1001 = 천일 (chun-il)
1011 = 천십일 (chun-shib-il)
1111 = 천백십일 (chun-beak-shib-il)Get the idea? :D
10,000 = 만 (maan)
100,000 = 십만 (shib-maan)
1,000,000 = 백만 (baek-maan)
10,000,000 = 천만 (chun-maan)100,000,000 = 억 (eok)
1,000,000,000 = 십억 (shib-eok)
10,000,000,000 = 백억 (baek-eok)
100,000,000,000 = 천억 (chun-eok)1,000,000,000,000 = 조 (jo)
So on and so forth :)
As you can see, it's a pattern of 십, 백, and 천
