POV Sofia

After I finished my studies for the fourth semester at the Het Loo palace and my parents felt that things were safer, my parents finally allowed me to return to the Republic of the United States of Indonesia.

When I announced that I would soon return to the Verenigde Staten van Indonesie through my various social media accounts, the comment fields on the various social media platforms that I used were flooded with comments filled with joy, although some insulted me and were cynical and suspicious of me.

Those who were suspicious of me said that I became a Muslim only to gain their sympathy before me and His Majesty the King of the Netherlands and his minions further destroyed the Muslims who lives here by studying their weaknesses just as what Dr. Snouck Hurgronje did when he pretended to be a Muslim to enter the Aceh community tribe and made a research about them to find out their weaknesses which caused the Aceh sultanate to lose the war against the Dutch colonial forces.

I don't want to convince people like that because I will never be able to change the way they think about me and the way they see me but I don't want to say that their way of thinking is wrong because in the end, it's their past experiences that make them hate me and the nation that I came from. All I can do is act and behave well as a Muslim and hope that Allah wills to soften and tenderize their hearts so that they are willing to accept my presence between them some day.

When I arrived at the international airport of Sucilangkung city, I saw that the airport was filled with crowds of people who were celebrating my return by cheering at me to give me their greetings and wanted to approach me but the guards who were being assigned to escort me held back the crowd who were trying to get close to me.

I felt that the presence of the bodyguards actually created a barrier between me and these people. However, what can I do? I didn't know if I was safe from threats or not so I walked over to the crowd with two bodyguards who were guarding my right and left sides and bowed to them while clasping my hands together, giving them the usual greeting gesture that the people here usually make with a smile on my face, gave them my greeting and conveying to them my apologies for the security guards who were guarding me so tightly.

"Assalamualaikum everyone, please forgive me because I was guarded heavily today and created a barrier with all of you. I know you really want to be close to me and greet me but I don't know whether I am still surrounded by threats and dangers from the people who want to hurt or kill me or not so I hope you guys can understand this situation.

I also want to be closer to you guys but, maybe my wish should be postponed until things get better. I hope you understand what I mean and I hope you will forgive me.

I'm truly sorry, please excuse me, I want to rest because the trip from Netherlands to here took a lot of time, assalamualaikum."

They all answered my apologies with great joy and told me that they understood the explanation that I gave to them, they prayed for my safety and hoped that I would feel at home here and safe from any harm, they also said that if anyone wanted to hurt me, I could wrote my complaints on my social media and told the identity of the people who wanted to hurt me in social media platforms that I use so that they could find the people who wanted to hurt me and they could arrest and take them to the authorities. I just showed my smile to them all and then turned my body and walked towards the car that had been provided for me.

I got into the car with my two bodyguards, then the car that I entered began to move forward along with the convoy of cars and motorbikes that escorted the car that I rode until I finally arrived at a large house with high outer security wall in which the outer security wall is mounted with sharp iron bars so that it cannot be climbed.
