BILAL——

I wake up the next morning, to go to work earlier than usual. I try to get up without bothering Zahra in her sleep.

I slowly move her away from my body, and when I do so, she stirs in her sleep.

I get ready for another day of exhaustion at work.

But this time it is different.

I walk out of the bathroom when I finish getting ready I get ready and kiss Zahra on the forehead before leave the room.

I write down a note for her which says "going to work early, I'll see when I come back. I love you" Then I leave the house.

As I'm walking to the car, I call Yunus.

"Hello, boss." Yunus greets me through the phone.

"How many times do I have to tell you to stop calling me that, just call me by my name, or something, just not that or anything remotely close to that at this point. Anyway, I need you to prepare the chamber. I will send the address if who I want you to get. I will be there in twenty." I hang up, not waiting for him to answer.

I reach my destination, and as I am getting out of my car, I can already feel the blood boiling inside of me.

I get inside the building and into the torture chamber which is all the way underground.

I am greeted by Yunus who goes inside with me and stands by the door, guarding it.

"Hello, Zaid. Long time no see." I smirk when I see Zahra's father who is tied up to the chair in front of me, staring at me with fear in his eyes while trying to hide it.

He struggles as he tries to untie himself from the rope but it is too tight around his wrists.

"You sick, fucking bastard!" He yells at me but I ignore it.

"Get me out of here!"

"Let's make this easy for both you and me, hmm?" A pause. I bend down to his level, staring into his eyes. "You promise that you will not touch her again, and you will be free," I lie, but either way, I  already know that he will choose the wrong choice of words anyway.

"And what if I do not?" he replies, trying to be intimidating but his effort makes me want to laugh rather than feeling anything close to 'scared'.

"Then I will hurt you the same way you hurt her." I shrug. "And we both know how that goes. Let's not forget the fact that your daughter is way stronger than you, so the pain she felt, is nothing compared to the pain you will feel."

He scoffs at what I said. "Yeah right. I would like to see you try."

And what did I say?

"Wrong answer"

I punch him in the nose, his head swinging to his side, blood gushing out of his nose.
He asked for it.

Before I leave the chamber, I remember to tell him something before he does the same mistake again of hurting my wife.

"If you touch a single hair of hers again, I will kill you and your loved ones." Not that he has loved ones to begin with.

I open the door.

"And I won't even hesitate before doing so"

And then I leave.

When I reach home, I see nothing had changed, everything was still in place  as it was when I left which makes me think that Zahra is not awake yet. But yet again, it is passed the time she usually wakes up to, so she is probably awake, but might as well check.

I go up to our room, thinking I will find her there sleeping but she is not.

I knock on the door of the bathroom but I don't hear an answer, which makes me open the door, but not finding anyone there.

I look in the library of our house, but she is no where to be seen in there either.

I start to panic.

Where could she possibly be?

As I am trying to think of some other place she could be in, inside the house, I hear some humming coming from out of the window and a sigh of relief escapes my mouth when I see her in the backyard, humming something.

I walk up to her and wrap my arms around her waist from behind.

"Good morning, love."

"Good morning."

"You almost gave me a heart attack." I say which causes her to giggle.

"And why is that? Oh yeah, where were you by the way? " She asks, looking at the sunrise in awe.

"I was not able to find you, I thought something happened to you. And I had some business to take care of. " she nods at my reply, not taking her eyes off the sky.

"Isn't it so beautiful?" She says in pure admiration while smiling her lovely, heart warming smile. The smile that lights up her entire face. The smile that brings me joy when I see her happy like that.

I don't take my eyes off her. I don't even look at the sky but only at her. "It is."
