"Do you know what gender the baby is?" Colby asked as we drove down the road.
"No. I've been avoiding it." I said quietly as he took my hand. "I can't imagine how hard this has been for you." He said as I nodded.
"I should have told you sooner. I'm really sorry, Colby." I said as my eyes watered. "Hey. I should have told you I wasn't dead." He said then kissed my hand.
"How did you do it?" I asked quietly. "I was wearing a vest, Jules." He said with a sigh.
"I hate those things but I wore it because I promised to make it back to you and the kids." He explained, focusing on the road.
"When he brought you in to do it, I was heartbroken." He said quietly. "I knew you'd have to be the one to shoot me, that's why I told you it would be okay." He said and pulled up to the office.
"Thanks for not shooting me in the head though." He said and looked up at me.
"I couldn't do that." I said as my eyes watered, the imagine of me shooting him in the chest playing in my mind.
It was honestly kind of amazing how good at acting he was at acting dead because I fully believed I lost him.
"Hey." Colby said quietly, grabbing my face so I would look at him. "I can't wrap my head around it." I whispered as he nodded, holding my face.
"I know, darling. I'm right here though and I'm not going anywhere." He said then kissed me gently.
"Everyone's gonna lose their shit. You know that right?" I asked as he chuckled.
"Yeah. I can't wait to see everyone." He said then turned the car off. "We need to get you in bed. You and the baby need to rest." He said then put his hand on my belly.
It was adorable that he was so excited about this baby. I was half expecting him to be mad about it but seeing how quickly he embraced his child.
Colby got out of the car then came around to help me out. I was still high off pain pills so I wasn't in pain but I just wanted to hold his hand.
"The kids are probably asleep so maybe we can just stay in the infirmary." I said as we walked towards the elevator.
"Should I surprise Sam?" He asked and took my hand. "Yeah, I think that would be fun." I said as we went downstairs.
We walked hand in hand down the familiar hallway until we got to Sam's office.
"Step back." I said as Colby grinned then stepped back. I sighed then knocked on the door, waiting for just a minute before Sam was opening the door.
"Julia! You're alive!" He said and gave me a hug. "Yeah. I'm alive." I said then pulled away before Colby cleared his throat.
I watched as Sam's face drained, looking over at Colby.
"Colby Brock." He said as Colby chuckled. "Surprise, man." He said as Sam went to hug him.
"How'd you pull it off?" Sam asked as I leaned against the wall, watching them. "I was wearing a vest." He said as Sam chuckled.
"Classic but out of character." Sam said as Colby nodded. "Yeah, had to get back to my family." He said then looked over at me.
"Speaking of, this one is on bed rest. We can catch up later?" He asked as Sam nodded. "Of course. I missed you, man." Sam said with tears in his eyes.
"I missed you too, man." Colby said then gave Sam a hug.
It was so heartwarming seeing the two boys reunite.
