Story 45 - Voice from the shadows

Gerald always believed in the magic in life; that every dark corner hid some sort of mysterious creature or secret he could only imagine. So, when he heard a voice calling to him from the shadows of his bedroom one night, he was beyond excited.

The voice promised Gerald it could make his wildest dreams come true. All he had to do was follow it, and it would lead him to a thrilling adventure of discovery. So, with a thrill of anticipation, Gerald followed the mysterious voice.

He ended up in front of a dark and foreboding house; the voice led him through the front door and down winding, cobweb-filled corridors. The voice reassured Gerald, telling him that if he kept following, he would find his coveted treasure.

But then, when Gerald reached the deepest and darkest part of the house, the voice began to change. Its tone became harsh, accusing Gerald of betrayal and of lying to it. Suddenly, the bright dream Gerald had been chasing turned to a nightmare. The trust he had forged with the voice was shattered, and Gerald began to back away slowly.

But it was too late. The voice had revealed its true nature; it was actually a demon that had been luring Gerald into its dark world. Just as Gerald began to run away, the demon snatched him up in its powerful claws, and it vanished with the terrified boy in tow.

Gerald painfully left his family and friends in heartbreak, never to be seen from again. His story is one of caution and serves as a reminder to never blindly follow voices in the shadows.
