Neymessi-

In the background of Lionel Messi's car a familiar song played. Each time he heard it, he wondered why it caused such turmoil within himself.

And I can't change even if I tried, even if I wanted too

Growing up in Argentina his mother expected grandchildren from her only son's future wife. There aren't many in Argentina who are blessed with the acceptance of being different. Not different in they think they're different. Nor the different that they'd rather be by themselves and not their friends, but the type of different that is shamed by religion.

While his friends were looking at every girl in their class, his eyes were reserved for the guys. But that was before he fell into the trap that religion wants you to believe.

God does not support homosexual love.

Slowly he swallowed his true love. That's what he thought God wanted. That's what he thought his family would want as well. He never had much time to think about who he loved or had much time for a relationship, so he was never bothered by his true spirit.

In a country to the north of Argentina, a boy called Neymar was growing up as well. He was confused as a young boy why he seemed to find the guys more appealing than the girls. When he voiced his confusion, his mother told him that he just hasn't hit the point where he found girls intriguing.

Neymar was afraid to tell his family he never found any interest in girls. He was too afraid his family would reject him and the little that he had already would reduce to absolutely nothing.

When a football was placed at his feet, he didn't know why, but he felt a special feeling when the ball touched any part of his body. The confusion and depressive nature of his problem disappeared when he was around that football. Thus, Neymar Da Silva Santos Jr., became a household name in Brazil and eventually around the world.

God loves all his children is somehow forgotten as we paraphrase a book written over thirty five hundred years ago.

Both Leo and Neymar became so wrapped up in their passion of football they never had the chance to really sit down and worry about who they loved. Sure, some people recognized the talent they had and tried latching onto them so they'd one day share the fame the boys would grasp. But, they were too concerned about making it in the football world.

In 2013, Leo heard about the kid he had once met while playing against Santos FC in Brazil, was signing for Barcelona. He was thrilled to have such a talented young guy join the Barça side. Leo truly looked forwards to the new season and seeing if they'd mix well.

Just like how blue and red makes purple, Neymar and Leo made goals. They mixed incredibly well together almost as if they had been born to play together.

As the season continued, Neymar and Leo became fast friends, especially once Neymar learned Spanish. As their relationship on the field became better, so did their relationship off the field. Eventually becoming best friends.

With their careers now stable, they realized just how much they really meant to one another. In ways, they had fallen in love. They just didn't know that yet.

The song in Leo's car continued. He looked to his side finding Gerard Pique oblivious to everything. When Leo looked in his rear view mirror, he found Neymar looking out the window, almost as if he, himself, was having an internal debate too.

The three friends got out of the car and headed to the press conference they had to give. Once they left the car, their thoughts were left in the car as well.

The journalists asked all sorts of things. They asked about their matches, how they felt about their competition and asked Leo about getting so many awards last season.

"Neymar and Leo seem to have such a great relationship on the field. They're always the first to hug each other after a goal and the last to stop hugging. Does having such a close relationship help you on the pitch?" One of the interviewers asked.

Both, Leo and Neymar smirked and reminisced slightly about their affection for one another. They both lifted their heads up and met each other's gaze and smiled simultaneously.

"They're best friends if you haven't been able to tell." Gerard laughed.

The room echoed with laughter while Leo and Neymar were left blushing and laughing since everybody else was.

"To answer your question, yes, having a good relationship off the pitch is helpful. I look up on the field and when I see Neymar I feel confident passing him the ball and I know he will do something great with it." Leo answered.

The rest of the press conference went as expected and they were relieved to be allowed to go. So the three friends got back into the car and headed back to the training ground where they'd all disburse separately.

As the three were about to leave, Gerard tugged on Neymar's arm to keep him near when he tried to disappear.

"You know the team will support you no matter what, right?" Gerard asked causing confused glances between the other two.

"Yeah." Neymar and Leo said together.

Gerard nodded and headed towards his car.

"What was that about?" Neymar asked.

Leo fidgeted. Ever since the lady asked about 'Neymessi' as the fans called them, his feelings towards Neymar hadn't been neutral anymore. He had a huge crush on Neymar, and he'd probably go as far and say he might be in love with him.

"What's wrong?" Neymar asked.

"Uh, nothing, don't worry." Leo casually dismissed.

"Come on I'm you're best friend, tell me." Neymar encouraged.

But as Neymar said the word friend, Leo's heart sunk a little knowing Neymar would never feel the same way towards him. Leo took a deep breath as he tried to think of what to say.

"I was just thinking about that lady said about our friendship at the press conference, that's all." Leo shrugged.

"Why does that bother you?" Neymar asked.

Neymar didn't know why, but suddenly he was hopeful for something. The two stayed quiet for sometime before it clicked in Neymar's head.

"Want to go somewhere more private?" Neymar asked.

Leo nodded his head and wondered what his friend wanted to say. He hoped Neymar hadn't figured out why the lady's question bothered him so much, but it seemed like there was a slim chance of that.

Neymar and Leo were both standing in their coaches empty office with the door closed. It may be off limits, but no coach really gets too mad at Leo.

They stared at each other momentarily, Leo full of worry.

In Neymar's head, everything that could go wrong was playing, but his main fear would be what his family would say. He wondered if they'd reject him and never speak to him again. But then he wondered what God would think of him. He's lived his life for God, but as he worried about everything something occurred.

If God creates us all, then he sent Leo and I here for each other.

Neymar thought that over and over again while Leo stared at him anxiously.

Within seconds, Neymar closed the gap between the two friends and kissed him.

"I..." Leo trailed off before placing his lips on Neymar's again.

"Me too, Leo." Neymar replied agreeing to the words Leo left unspoken.
