I wake up to blood everywhere. Mine, Uncles. I don't know who's is
who's. Rob walks into the room and see's I am awake. "Alex!" He yells
smiling. He jumps into my open arms hugging me, I don't let him see me
wince.
"Hey buddy, how you doing/" I ask looking at him searching him for
anything wrong.
"My face hurts," he said plainly. The bruise from the slap covers
half his face, his eye is also swollen.
"I know. Sorry buddy." I frown at him. "Anything else?" I ask
"Yeah, this." He shows me his arm, a huge cut around his wrist is pretty deep.
"Holly crap Rob! What is that from?" I ask grabbing his arm. He
winces. "Oh sorry buddy." I let go.
"It's okay. But it really hurts." He winces again. "I was trying to
pick up the mess in the living room. It won't stop bleeding."
I stand up, so does he. "Hold out you arm." I instruct. He does. I
strip off my shirt to use it as a band aid. I rip it and tie it around
his arm professionally. Just as i finished tying it someone walks in.
"Hey Rob I got-," his eyes looked up. He quickly looks down. "I'm
sorry. I-I didn't realize you were up and..." Oh yeah. I'm currently
wearing no top only a black sports bra.
"It's fine Jason." I'm relieved I don't have to deal with this mess
alone. "At my fights i show more than this to 'attract a wider crowd',
at least that's what my manager says." I tell rolling my eyes. He has
bandages which I assume were for Rob's wrist. "Come here." He walks
over, head still down.
"You can look at me ya know. I'm not gonna bite." I smile at him.
"Unless you stare then i might have to." I see him smile under his
longish bangs, he lifts his head up.
"And I might just have to bite back." He smiles. Then as his eyes
flicker down my body he stiffens and his face turns grave.
He's looking at my stomach. That's when I realize the intense amount
of pain coming from my ribs. I must not of noticed the pain due to the
adrenaline of being scared for Rob. I look down at my stomach. One of
my ribs is obviously broken by the bulging bone on my stomach. "Rob go
get a chair please." He asks and Rob comes back with two. Jason nods
thanking him. He places the one with the back behind me, thank god.
"Alex. Sit down. Slowly." I heard the word slowly a moment to late and
without thinking plop onto the chair. I clenched my jaw and screamed
through my teeth.
He brings the stool closer to me so he could reach me. "You don't
follow orders very well do you?" he smirks.
Like a five year old I stick my tongue out at him. " I'm thinking of
some very horrible things to call you right now, you-you pooplicker."
"Pooplicker? Hmm... tasty." He laughs at me. Then his face gets
serious. "This is gonna hurt. Alot." He warned. I nodded.
He put his hands on the broken rib, sending a jolt of pain through my
whole body. He puts a piece of thick fabric in my mouth. "When you
feel pain bite into that as hard as possible." I nod. He puts his
hands back down on my stomach and pushes the one rib back to were it's
suppose to be and quickly wraps the gauze around my waist so the rib
stays in place while healing. He clips it into place. He admires his
handiwork.
"So much for not staring." I manage to finally get out. He looks at
me and starts laughing.
"If only you could catch me." He smirked.
"Is that doubt I hear?" I asked amused. "If I ever get the chance to
I will bite you sir. And it may or may not be a pleasant one."
"I look forward to it." He challenges. "Oh and by the way your nose
is broken. Would you like me to fix that too?"
I nod. "Just reset it. Due to boxing it's happened. Doesn't even faze
me anymore. Heck I don't think much could after being used to it so
much. Although I really hope I don't get used to this." I said sighing
acknowledging my ribs.
He nods knowingly. He takes my nose and quickly jolts it to the left.
I shake it off. "Thanks."
"No problem."
"Alex?" Rob comes into the room.
"Yes Rob?"
"I'm tired." He says yawning.
"I'll take you upstairs. One second, come here." He trudges over to
me slowly. I take the rest of the gauze from Jason and untie the
shirt. I wrap the gauze around his wrists and Jason clips it into
place.
He opens his arms to me and i lift him up and wince. "Can Jason carry
you? I'll be right behind." He nods.
"Please?" I ask Jason.
"Of course." He says and takes Rob from my arms. He walks up the
stairs, me right behind him. When we reach the top of the stairs Robs
already fast asleep. I smile. "Which room?" He whispers.
"Just put him in mine." I open the door to my bedroom. My boxing
outfit -short white shorts, a red sports bra with a white Nike sign,
and the same color boxing gloves. - all have the Nike symbol on them
because I represent the boxing division of Nike as well as the
running, and soccer division. With a couple other divisions being
offered me and my manager are going through them. We have decided we
are for sure sticking with Nike "Just Do It!" instead of other offers.
I pull back the blankets for Rob. Jason sets him down gently on my
black and green bed set. He pulls the blanket over him. "Goodnight
little buddy." He whispers. He kisses his forehead and backs up. I
kiss Rob's forehead and walk out of the room, Jason shutting the door
quietly behind us.
When i finally get down stairs Jason's cleaning the floor. " Jason go
home. I can finish up here." I Start pushing him towards the door.
"You shouldn't have to do this, not in you condition." He says warningly.
"It's fine. I heal fast I'm sure I'll be back in the ring tomorrow."
I say. I do heal faster. Faster than anyone I have ever know or heard
of can. It's just another way I'm different.
"Whatever, but I'm still helping." He demands.
"Fine." I give in. I toss him a mop. He starts working. I dry after
he washes. In some places the blood has stained onto the glass-like
floor. When he's done I grab a scrubber and get down on my knees. I
start scrubbing at the one stain. Jason grabs a brillo pad from under
the sink and sits behind me. His back against mine. It's like we fit
together perfectly. His back, my back, his hand, my hand, his lips, my
lips...
