"Hey, can you tell me where Damian Hubbard's locker is?" I asked a passing student, and they shot me a weird look. "That super gay kid who's always singing in the cafeteria? Number 136." They said, and I nodded, a little mad at their comment towards Damian. I made my way through the corridor, and smiled when I saw the familiar figure of my childhood best friend. Admittedly, he was taller and had gained some weight since I'd last seen him, but I knew it was him. He was talking to someone, but I couldn't see who it was because Damian was blocking my view. I quietly stepped towards him and tapped him on his shoulder. "Excuse me, can I help... Y/N!" He shouted, pulling me into a tight hug. He lifted me slightly off the ground, and I let out a squeak of surprise. "Damian! Hi!" I said once he put me back on the ground. "I had no idea you lived in the district. Also, why didn't you tell me you were moving here? I could've given you the full Damian Hubbard welcoming experience." He said, throwing his arm around my shoulders. I went to respond, but a sharp cough caught my attention. I looked up to see the person Damian had previously been talking to, and my jaw nearly dropped. She was wearing dark lipstick, and her hair was black and blonde. Her outfit was artsy and grungy, and she looked stunning. "I'm so sorry. Janis, this is Y/N. We lived next to each other back in Atlanta. Y/N, this is Janis. She's one of the greatest people you'll ever meet." Damian said, and Janis gave a shy smile. "He's exaggerating, as per usual. I'm Janis." She said, holding out her hand for me to shake. "I'm Y/N. Can I just say, your jacket is the coolest goddamn thing I've ever seen?" I said, and Janis' cheek went a pink colour. "Thanks. I painted all of the patches myself." She said, and my eye widened slightly. "That's awesome! I've never been much of a painter, but I can appreciate brilliant art when I see it." I rambled, and I swore I saw Damian roll his eyes. "That's enough flirting, ladies. I would imagine we have the same time table which means we have French in 10 minutes." Damian said, and both Janis and I blushed heavily. "She's gay, and I reckon you guys would be adorable together." Damian whispered as we entered the classroom, and I spent my first class at Northshore High staring at Janis. "So, do you guys do anything for Halloween?" I asked, fiddling with one of the paper skeletons that hung on the edge of the cafeteria table. "Damian and I usually just watch a whole heap of shitty horror movies at my house. You're more than welcome to come tomorrow." Janis said, and I nodded enthusiastically. "I'd love to! I got invited to this massive Halloween party, but it was by this guy called Jason and he seems like a massive skeeze, so I'm not going." I said, and Janis nodded. "Yeah, I know Jason. He's the worst. He does this thing where he claims he can guess a girl's bra size by watching her jump up and down." Janis said, and I pulled a disgusted face. She snorted with laughter, and I flashed her a bashful smile. "God, that face said a thousand words." Janis said, taking a swig of her soda. "Oh my god you guys, the funniest thing happened to me in Drama." Damian announced, sitting down in between Janis and me. "Actually, I was just wondering if Y/N could come over to your place tomorrow and join our Halloween festivities?" Janis said and Damian froze, a smirk slowly creeping across his face. "Of course! You're more than welcome, Y/N. Just bring some snacks and you'll fit right in. I will warn you, I only have a two-seater couch so you may have to sit on someone's lap." He said, looking at Janis very conspicuously. "I, uh, I wouldn't mind that." I said and Janis' eyes widened. "Janis, what do you think about that?" Damian said and Janis froze. I could almost see the 'Error 404' sign in her brain. "That's tits!" Janis blurted out and Damian let out a loud laugh. "That's Janis' way of saying that's great." Damian said and I nodded, smiling to myself now that I knew what she meant. The bell rang loudly, and I sighed as I picked up my tray. "I've got Civics now, but I'll see you guys tomorrow night." I said, and the two of them nodded. "It's a date." Janis said and Damian arched his eyebrows. "We'll see you then, Y/N." I knocked on Damian's door, shuffling the bags of Starburst in my arms as I waited. "Y/N! Welcome to the party!" Damian said, pulling me into a half hug. "Thanks for having me over. I brought candy!" I said, lifting the bags I held. Damian let out a cheer and ushered me into his house. I smiled when I saw a photo of Damian and I as kids, and remembered the day it was taken. We'd just finished our third-grade play, and Damian's mom thought she'd take a photo of the two of us. "Hey Y/N. Just put the snacks on the table and grab a seat." Janis said, and I smiled at her Maleficent headdress. "Love the horns, Janis." I said and Janis chuckled, adjusting the headdress. "Ok everyone! Sit down and we will choose our first movie." Damian announced, holding up two DVDs. "It's either this movie called Night of the Lepus from the 70s that's about genetically mutated killer rabbits." Damian said, and I burst out into laughter. "This is a real movie, Y/N. Don't laugh at the killer bunnies." Janis said, which caused me to laugh even harder. "And Hood of Horror, where Snoop Dogg plays one of the Hounds of Hell." Damian said, and this time Janis laughed loudly. "God, that's good. Can we watch that one first?" Janis said and Damian gave me a look, as if to say, 'are you ok with that?' "Sure. Snoop Doog as a Hound of Hell is something I truly have to see." I said and Damian nodded, putting the DVD in the player. "I've gotta sit down somewhere, guys." I said, and Janis and Damian shot each other a look. "I suddenly have to go to the bathroom." Damian said, standing up and leaving a space next to Janis for me. "Hey." I said, sitting down next to her. The two-seater couch meant that my leg brushed up against hers when I sat down, and I felt the blood rush to my cheeks. "Hey." Janis responded, a half smile on her face. "Sorry about Damian. He thinks that just because I'm Lesbian he can set me up with any girl he wants." Janis said, and I could sense a hint of bitterness in her voice. "I'm actually bi, and I have to say that you are quite possibly one of the most beautiful girls I've ever seen." I said, my heart beating at a million miles an hour. "One of?" Janis said, and my cheeks flushed. "I mean, have you seen Keira Knightley?" I replied, and Janis snorted with laughter. "You've got a point there." She said, shuffling closer to me so our thighs were touching. I took in a shaky breath, unsure of what to do next. The movie started suddenly and I jumped at the noise, landing practically on Janis' lap. She shifted so I was fully sitting on her lap, and wrapped her arms around my waist. "Is this ok?" She whispered, and I shivered as her breath hit my neck. "Perfect." I replied, and a smile settled on Janis' face. We sat together for a while, when suddenly I felt Janis press a kiss to the crook of my neck. "Janis?" I said, turning around so I could see her face. "Hmm?" She said innocently, and I felt my breathing speed up. "Are you going to kiss me or not, Sarkisian?" I questioned, and Janis smirked widely. She leaned forward and our lips connected. Janis tasted like sour candy and something else I couldn't quite place, but it was perfect. Her hands cupped my face, and I hooked my legs around her waist. We pulled apart slowly, and I nearly forgot how to breath. "You guys are adorable! I knew this would work." Janis and I jumped slightly at Damian's voice followed by the sound of a camera shutter. "You'd better delete that, Hubbard." Janis said, and Damian gave her smug look. "Nope. You two are my best friends, and it's like gay law that every gay must know at least one other non-straight person. Now I've got two in my inner circle and this is my evidence." He said, holding up his phone. "I mean he has a point. Gay law is very strict." I said seriously, causing Janis to laugh. "Fine, but you have to send it to the both of us." Janis said, and Damian nodded excitedly. "I'm sending it now." He said, and both our phones went off. "Now, enough mooning over you two lovely lesbians." Damian said, squeezing in next to Janis. "I'm bi, but go off I guess." I muttered, and Damian rolled his eyes. "This is not how the B in LGBT should be treating their G. Let's just finish this awful movie!" Damian called, and Janis and I voiced our agreement. "There's a pride parade in town next weekend. You wanna go with Damian and I?" Janis whispered, and I smiled brightly. "I would love to, but one condition." I replied, and Janis quirked an eyebrow. "And that condition is?" Janis said, earning a shush from Damian. "That I go as your girlfriend." I said, and Janis' smile widened. "I have no problems with that." And everything's okay.
