Janis meeting your parents

Hey guys! Been a while

Janis is so nervous
Like SO nervous
She'll be damned if you know it, though
You're so nervous already
She doesn't want to add to it
She's a thoughtful gf
She doesn't usually do the whole "meeting the parents" thing
bc it's really big
But she'll do it for you
Cue the "awww"s
She shows up in a dress
You immediately know that she's nervous
She doesn't do dresses
And she's fidgeting like crazy
She's also wearing The Jacket™
You invite her inside
Y'all sit down in the living room
But you have to go check on the food
So you leave for a bit
"That's a nice jacket," your mom starts.
It sounds like a compliment, but she says it in that condescending mom voice that means "I hate this, why would you wear that?"
"Oh yeah. I made it."
"You made this?"
"Yeah. I made it way back when I was homeschooled for a year."
"And why was that?"
"Uhh...what?"
Why were you homeschooled?"
"Oh, just some... school... stuff? Y/N!!!" She exclaimed as you entered
"The food's ready!"
"You can cook, too? You really are perfect." She kissed you on the cheek
"Wait until you try it to judge my perfection."
"I already know it'll be incredible."
Once you all get to the table and it's all served your parents start asking more questions
"Janis, what do you want to do?"
"Art. I love it, and I've already won lots of awards."
"That isn't a stable career."
"I know, but I can get another job to pay the bills. I have talent, trust me. Art's already made me money."
"How?"
"Contests with prizes, stuff like that."
"Oh. Interesting." But in that mom voice I mentioned earlier
Believe it or not, the dinner went downhill from there.
I won't go into detail
but it wasn't great
After dinner, you go outside with her
"They hated me."
"They did not."
"Y/N..."
"They didn't hate you."
"It went horribly."
"Maybe, but it won't be like that forever."
"Really? Are you sure?"
"They'll change their minds."
"Okay... when?"
"When they see how much I love you."
"God, Y/N, you're so sappy." she teased
"But you love me."
"Yeah, I do. What did I get myself into?"
"Hey!" You hit her playfully.
"I love you, Y/N."
"I love you, too, Janis."
You kissed
You two had said "I love you" before
But this time was different
This time you felt so... secure
You knew Janis would be there for you for a long time
You really liked that feeling
