Justin

"Mom, why are you seriously trying to make me do this? You know I hate leaving the house, plus I'm pretty positive she doesn't wanna be around me. If you didn't notice, I acted like a total ass."

Mom just looked at me. She hates when I use profanity. Honestly, I couldn't really control it.

"Well, it was your idea to act like cocky. If I was her, I wouldn't like you either... Stop trying to act like someone you aren't. There's only one of you, and one of your father. If God wanted you to be like your father, he would have made you like that. You aren't that kind of person." My mom spoke. She's always giving me a lesson on things I should and shouldn't do. It's really helpful because I'm pretty sure I'd lose my head if I didn't have her with me.

"I know mom, it's just that dad said that he got you to like him by acting like a complete jerk. I just assumed girls like when guys act all hard, and cocky." I say. Clearly hearing how dumb it sounds coming out of my mouth. In my defence, it seemed like a great idea in my head.

"Justin you should really go over there and apologize. After all, she just moved here. How would you like moving somewhere new and the first person you meet acted like a total jerk?" Mom asked sitting in the chair beside me. We were in the kitchen having breakfast.

"I guess I'd feel pretty upset." I murmured back. Feeling a bunch of regret huddle in the pit of my stomach. I hated when she did this. She always uses her super power mom abilities to prove a point. I hated admitting it, but she was right, again.

"Now just do this one thing for me and for Kelly. I mean all you have to do is go with her to the market to pick up some food for dinner tonight, Take her to the mall so she can get her some new clothes for school, and whatever else she needs to do. It won't be that hard. After all, you need to go too, I have about three hundred dollars left on my credit card for you to buy some school stuff, and new clothes. Spend as much as you need." She speaks, releasing her pearly smile.

"Actually, that's what I wanted to talk to you about. I decided this year I wanted to be home schooled. I really don't want to have to deal with the drama of high school this year. It's senior year, I just wanna be done with."

"Justin, I know last year was pretty rough for you. It was hard for me too. But leaving school for your last year is absurd. I mean think about everything you'll be missing out on. Don't you think you should think it through a little more?" Mom asked concerned. It was going to be my choice at the end of the day. I'm the only one who can live my life. Frankly, I think me being home schooled is one of the best ideas I've had yet.

"I've thought it through. I wanna do it mom." Sounding more confident than ever.

"I just hope you're doing the right thing."

"Mom, at the end of the day, this is my life. I'm going to have to fail and make mistakes so I can learn from them."

"I guess you're right." Mom says, getting up from her chair to put our cereal bowls in the sink.

"Keys are in my coat pocket." She yelled from the kitchen before leaving to go to Brooklynn's house, I decided I should take a quick shower, walking to the bathroom and removing all my clothes.

If God wanted you to act like your father, he would have made you that way.

My moms words replayed in my head, only causing the never ending argument with myself in my head about my father.

Father? He doesn't even deserve that title. He's never been a father to you. Leaving you and your mother when you were only three years old? A father doesn't do that.
