Scarletts POV
4 days had gone by since 'the incident', Jamie was leaving in 2 days, finally turning 18, I still have 2 months to go. Todays an open day, but I don't plan on coming out of my room, I really want to just live out the next two months in peace, leave and move into the apartment that Jamie's gunna rent when he gets out. That's been our plan for around 6 months now, and we both plan on sticking to it, he's the closest thing I have to family, and I don't plan on losing him, everyone else just abandoned me after using and abusing me in different ways, and I was so sick of it.
Josh's POV
I was heading to the orphanage near the sidemen house with Freya, we decided we wanted to adopt someone together, not someone young, just someone old enough that they could be a friend more then someone to look after, so we were hoping there would be a few kids that were at least over the age of 15.
"You okay Frey?" I asked, she had her thinking face on,
"Yeah, I just, I know we're not technically gunna be parents but, we'll both still have parental responsibilities and we're both gunna have to look after him or her, and I just don't want to fail at it you know?" She ranted,
"Freya, we'll do fine, plus there's three other boys in the house and then we can always have Tobi, Ethan or Harry cone over to watch them," I said rubbing her thigh, she nodded and smiled.
Scarlett's POV
It was so close to the end of the open day, literally only half an hour to go.
"Scarlett! Come down here please!" Sarah shouted, I rolled my eyes and shouted back a quick 'okay', threw on a hoody, and slowly made my way downstairs. As I did I saw a gorgeous girl, probably in her 20's and a really good looking guy stood next to her, they were both stood behind Sarah, who had her arms folded across her chest, glaring at me, she'd always had it out for me, I have no idea why, but she just did. The girl gave me a soft smile and so did the guy next to her,
"This is Josh and Freya, they're looking to adopt someone above the age of 15, as you know that means there is only two people they can adopt, you or Jamie... in fact," She turned to them, "One second," She then shouted up to Jamie, and he came running down, "as I was saying, you two are the only people they can adopt, they both said they don't mind whether who they adopt is male or female, so you two can decide between you,"
I nodded and looked over at Jamie who grabbed my hand and excused us as he pulled me upstairs, "I'm going to tell them to adopt me, okay?" He said, I went wide eyed and quickly shook my head,
"No way, no fucking way, that's not happening, you are so close to getting out of this hell hole, I will not let you give up on all you've worked for!" I grabbed his hand, "I love you Jamie, and I want you to be happy,"
He sighed, "I love you too Star, but I promised no more families would hurt you, and I meant it,"
"I know you did, but I turn 18 in two months Jamie, I'll be a legal adult, then I can make my own decisions and I'll come and move in with you,"
"No, not happening," I sighed and shook my head,
"Then I'm sorry for what I'm about to do," I ran to the door, took out the key and looked it from the outside, he started banging against the door, yelling my name over and over, reminding me of the night before, I ran down the stairs, and ran into them standing in the same place and they all looked at me, "We decided it's for the best that I get adopted," I stuttered out not making eye contact with anyone,
"Great, let's sort out the paperwork then, would you like to read her file?" Sarah asked, the fakest smile I had ever seen plastered on her ugly face. They looked at each other and had a quiet conversation, them turned back to Sarah and said 'Nah, we like a surprise," Sarah smiled and nodded, then they disappeared down the hall into the office, and I sat on the stairs and waited for them to finish, covering my ears to make the faint sound of Jamie's banging on the door go away.
After about ten minutes they reappeared and Sarah handed me my file, "Everythings sorted, Freya and Josh are now your legal guardians, keep your file safe in your bag, once your finished packing, come back down and we can all say our goodbyes," She said in an extremely monotone voice, I nodded and ran back upstairs, unlocking the door to mine and Jamie's shared room, instantly looking to the floor as the door swung open, "Please tell me you didn't," He said, clearly worried,
"I'm sorry Jamie," I whispered,
"How could you be so stupid! You know better then anyone what people like them do, you know we can't trust anyone asides from each other!" He yelled, I looked him dead in the eyes,
"Well I'm sorry for not wanting to ruin everything you had planned out!" I yelled back, "Just go Jamie, I don't wanna hear it anymore,"
"Star, I'm sorry," He said reaching out to hold me, I shrugged him off and started packing my bag, not that there was much to pack, and headed straight out the door.
I swung my bag on my shoulder and slid down the bannister. "Is that all you have," Josh asked a confused expression on his face, I nodded in return,
"Okay, so ready to go?" Freya asked, I again nodded, "You don't talk much huh?"
"Sorry, just not good with people I suppose," I replied,
"That's fine," She said in a bubbly voice,
"Well, let's go then,"
I said a few goodbyes and then left, not even saying bye to Jamie, because I knew it'd hurt just a little bit too much, so I texted him instead, I had a cheap flip phone that literally cost £20 but it surprisingly worked well,
I'm sorry Jamie, I'll text you later, I just couldn't let you take the risk of moving in with them and ruining your chances. I love you and I'll make sure I text you the address later xx
I left it at that and slid my phone in my bag again, "So, tell us about yourself," Freya said, looking back at me.
"Uhm, my names Scarlett, I'm 17, nearly 18, I like to play video games, I used to play them on Jamies Xbox and his PC, I like to sing and play the guitar, I used to use the one in the lounge, self taught, uhm, I play piano, I like to consider Jamie my brother, he's been with me since day one, and that's about all there is to me,"
"Any boys?" She said wriggling her eyebrows,
I laughed and shook my head, "Who'd want me?"
"We did," Josh said,
"For now," I whispered,
"Hey, don't say that," Freya replied grabbing my knee, I flinched away a little bit and she gave me a confused face,
"Sorry, force of habit I guess..."
