Five picks me up again out of the car, then jumps into a small little apartment.

He puts me down on the couch and sits down next to me.

"How are you feeling?" He says.

"Like shit." I scoff.

Five unties the belt, then lifts the shirt to see the wound.

"It only grazed you, which is good. The bullet is still in there, but I can see it. It can easily be pulled out." He puts my shirt back down, then puts the belt back.

Suddenly, the door handle jiggles and Vanya opens the door.

When the door opens, Five turns on the lamp next to us.

"Jesus!" Vanya yells then relaxes when she sees it's us.

"You should have locks on your windows." Five says. Vanya throws her keys down.

"I live on the second floor." Vanya sighs.

"Rapists can climb."

"You are so weird," Vanya says as she shuts the door.

She takes off her coat and sits next to Five and me.

"Is that blood?" She says, looking at Five.

"It's nothing. I shouldn't be the one you should be worrying about." Five looks down at me.

Vanya's eyes grow wide at the sight of the blood on my shirt.

"W-why are you here?" she asks.

"I've decided you are the only one I can trust."

"Why me?"

"Because you are ordinary." Vanya looks down. I can tell that was not the answer she was expecting.

"Because you will listen," I say, trying to save the conversation.

Vanya gets up and goes to the bathroom. She returns with a bunch of medical things.

Five lifts my shirt again and sticks his palm out to Vanya.

"Do you have tweezers?"

She goes back into the bathroom and gives them to five.

"This might hurt a little. Squeeze my hand as hard as you can when it does."

Five gives me his free hand, and I take it. I breathe in and out, waiting for the pain.

Finally, a sting of pain travels through my body. I hiss and squeeze Five's hand.

"Almost got it." He says as I squeezed his hand tighter.  A small cry of pain escapes from my lips.

"Got it." Five pulls the tweezers away, a small piece of melt in its grasp. He cleans the wound, then adds a piece of cotton. He wraps a couple of layers of bandage to make the cotton stay in place.

"Should be good." He says.

"Thank you," I mutter. He nods.

"What about you?" I say, looking at his arm. He sighs.

"Let me see," Vanya says. He lifts his sleeve.

Vanya cleans the cut and adds a bandage.

After a moment of silence, Five speaks.

"When I jumped forward and got stuck in the future, do you know what I found?" Five asks Vanya.

"No..." she says.

"Nothing." Five pauses. "Absolutely nothing."

"As far as I could tell, I was the last person left alive. I never figured out what killed the human race. But I did find something else. The date it happens. "

Five looks at me, then back at Vanya.

"The world ends in eight days. And I have no idea how to stop it."

Vanya's eyes go wide. She pauses for a moment, then stands up.

"I'm...going to make a pot of coffee."
