Chapter Four

Phoebe's POV

*beep-beep* I am awoken by the stupid alarm clock. Now that I'm back in New York, I've been getting a pretty good nights sleep. It's 4:30 AM, everyone else is sleeping. It's so lonely.

I peek on Alec to see how he's doing. Last night, I stayed with him, until he said he's tired and wanted to sleep. I hope he got atleast some sleep. To my dismay, he was awake, with droopy eyes. I knock on the door.

"Come in," he says, but I was already on my way inside.

"Did you get any sleep?" I ask.

"Nope. I was wondering, could you take me back to my place to get my TV and movies, and cds. I need those things." I look into his blotchy face. He must've been crying all night.

I sigh, and look back at him. How could I say no?

"I'll get them, you stay here. Is it unlocked?" I ask.

"Of course. We've never locked that door once in our lives." he replies.

"Be back soon." i assure him.

I shut the door and put on my Columbia jacket from our date last night. It's funny how the same night as our date, Alec's mom dies and he moves in here. So much can happen, but I've learned that.

"Where do you happen to be going at this time of the morning?" Devon casually walks in front of me.

"Alec left something at his apartment. I am going to get it."

"Well," he started, "let me come with you. I don't want to risk little Phoebe getting hurt."

"You do know just because you're dating my sister doesn't give you permission to act like an over-protective brother."

Devon chuckled. "Why not?"

"Let's just go," i say, annoyed. "Oh, and on the way home, I am going to do some Christmas shopping, you in for it?" I say, just remembering I haven't bought presents.

"I was hoping you'd say that. I've got my wallet." I nod and we head out the door.

*;*;*;*;*;

"All boarding train three please do not block the doorway. Doors will be closing in thirty seconds." The drivers speaks into the crackly microphone.

"C'mon Devon you can run faster than that!" Ishout, with Devon huffing an puffing behind me. "The train is about to leave."

Right when I thought we hadn't made it in time, Devon and I come sprinting into the train seconds before the doors close.

"Holy crap, that was close." I mutter. Looks like I have gotten my early morning work out.

"You don't say," Devon replies, his heart rate slowing down a few beats.

the train moves at stellar speed, and so we got there in no time.

"Now how are we supposed to transport this tv to our apartment?" Devon asks me, scratching his head.
