Chapter 1: Him?

It was another day at school, and I sat at my desk, scrolling away on TikTok. Class was boring and I had already finished my work, so there was nothing left for me to do.

"Niyah," was said in the background. "Niyah!"

Not hearing, I kept scrolling away until I felt my shoulder move twice. I looked up from my phone to see my best friend, Kayla, mugging me.

"Girl, what?" I complained, shaking my head at her expression.

"It's time to goooooo," she huffed, I quickly grabbed my Victoria Secret "PINK" bookbag and checked the time, seeing it was time for lunch. "Girl, come on!!!!! I heard there was an event happening in the cafeteria, plus Jade is already there waiting on us".

"Okay" I said blankly. I stood up from my desk and began walking down the hallway of swarming high schoolers with Kayla.

♡♡♡

Lost in my thoughts, I crash into a tall, slightly build figure.

"See, this is why I told you to watch where you're going Niyah" Kayla retorted.

"Sorry" I told the tall figure. I blushed out of embarrassment, taking a few steps backwards.

"It's fine lil mama but look up for a second so I can see yo face" he said, so I looked him in the eyes. I can't lie, he was so fine. He was brownskin with long black and blonde dreads, piercing dark brown eyes and full lips. Just my type, but I already know how things would end if I were to pursue him. It would end in the way things always do, I would end up crying, broken hearted, and he'd be fine.

"You pretty" he said, smiling.

"Uhm," Kayla mumbled, clearing her throat. "Jade is waiting for us, let's go Niyah."

Kayla began dragging me away from him and I followed her mindlessly, still stuck on what the hell just happened.

"Who is that?" I questioned Kayla.

"It doesn't matter who" Kayla mugged me, causing me to roll my eyes. "We're not doing this again, and I'm not letting you get hurt again by no bitch ass nigga who barely change his drawls every morning.

I laughed at her response. "I was just wonderinggggg" I continued.

"Yeah yeah, sure" Kayla huffed, bumping my shoulders. I smiled in response.

"There goes Jade" Kayla pointed, walking towards her.

"Wassup bitchesssss" Jade exclaimed, bringing us in for a group hug.

"Nothing much, same old stuff," I said sighing. "I need something new in my life."

"Right, it's tiring doing the same shit every day," Kayla joined.

"Damn, y'all motherfuckas sound like y'all done with life and you only been here for 17 years," Jade laughed, holding her stomach.
