Contracts

Liliana's pov

"Hey, I need you to look at my contract" Meredith says as she walks over to the front desk where I'm standing. Now that Bailey is the Chief of Surgery, she's made Meredith her replacement for the Chief of General Surgery, so of course her contract was updated.

"Why" I ask grabbing it from her as she hands it to me

"Because I showed it to Maggie and she made a face like something was wrong, but she wouldn't say what" she says. I began to read through the contract and I could see the reason that Maggie made a face. The pay was definitely below the average salary for a department head. "Okay, now you're making the face too. What's wrong with my contract" she asks

"Nothing in particular.?It's just now that you're Chief of General Surgery, it seems like your salary would be higher then this. I mean I make a lot more then this, a lot more. They low balled you" I say

"Well how much more do you make" she says

"Can't say" I smirk beginning to walk away

"No, give me a number" she says following behind me

"Just know it's a lot more then what's on your contract and you need to go renegotiate with Bailey" I say before I leave to get a patient prepped for surgery. After I take my patient to the O.R. and scrub in I begin surgery. It was going to be pretty long surgery that will probably take all day, which I was glad of since I'm trying to avoid Jackson. After telling him that I don't want to try for another baby last night, things between us weren't the best, we didn't even ride to work together today. I know we have to discuss everything and figure things out at some point, but for right now I just want to avoid any confrontation. My surgery took most of the day like I thought it would and once I finished I took the patient to recovery and I go to the front desk to give the nurse my iPad.

"Hey" I say to Jackson as he walks over the front desk as well

"Hey" he says not looking up from his iPad

"So I'm going to be home kind of late tonight. I'm going over to Meredith's, Maggie wants to have a girls night in to celebrate Meredith's promotion" I say

"Okay" he says

"Jackson, can you please look at me while I'm talking to you" I sigh

"Fine" he says looking at me

"Look, I understand that you're upset about our conversation last night, but you don't have the right to be mad at me because of the way I feel" I frown

"I don't have the right to be mad? Liliana, before we got married we always agreed that we wanted kids and now all of a sudden you've changed your mind and you don't think I get to be mad" he frowns

"It is not like I just changed my mind out of nowhere or for no reason. We lost a child and you know the pain we felt recovering from that and you know that it took everything in us to make it through that, so you should understand more then anyone else why I would never want to risk that again" I say

"Of course I understand why you're scared. You don't think that I would be scared of the same thing if we tried for another baby? I would be, but I don't let fear stop me from giving something another try especially if it's something that's worth it and us being parents and getting to raise a child together is worth it" he argues
