PROLOGUE~

"Why?" He asked like he always did. I took a deep breath as I arched by back and stood up from the bay window. The lilac sky has now turned a shade of dark purple, I smile a little my eyes closed as I feel him watching me. "Because why not?" I say barely above a whisper.

I watch him as he eloquently walks towards me, his eyes anything but kind

I watch him as he eloquently walks towards me, his eyes anything but kind. He reaches for my fingers first lacing them with long ones and looks me in the eyes.

"Why Jade?" He demands.
I stare back at him with the same intensity as I have a million times, this man, this mad man driven out of the paradise is my 'treasure'.

I take a step forward closing the distance between us and slowly bring my lips closer to his lips all the while looking into his cinnamon eyes I say "Because I am the basic, real and invariable nature of a thing or its significant individual feature. I'm the inward nature, true substance and constitution of anything, as opposed to what is accidental, phenomenal, and illusory. Because I'm something that exists in your life as much as mine." With that I kiss him, it's a soft kiss.
It's the kind I've shared with him in instances that I no longer recognize my life without it. "The essence of Jade exists because Jasper desires it." I whisper against his lips and he smiles. He cups my face and rests his forehead against mine, and whispers something inaudible.

"What's wrong?" I ask him.

"You need to go back Jade." He clears his throat. I sit back on the bay window, the street lights shine like little stars on the planet but the thought of something so pure surviving long enough without being corrupted seems bonkers at this point.

"And why is that?" I ask politely

"And why is that?" I ask politely. "My work is pretty much done here. I will be back in a couple of days, so I just thought you'd be missing your studio and your mother hasn't heard from you in a while. By the time I came back you will be finished with your recent art work and show it to me." He said standing above me.
