FALLEN SON: CRESPO FOUND BRUTALLY BEATEN AFTER VARSITY VICTORY

What should have been a rallying celebration gave way to sadness, as Saint Jude of Galilee Academy grieves for one of their own.
Timothy Crespo (PG, jersey number 28) led the Thaddeans to a heartstopping 72-71 win against Saint Bartholomew School of Alhambra this Saturday, after an impressive three-point buzzer beater in the rival school’s own turf.
Crespo, who scored 28 points, had been ‘roaring in joy’, said a source close to the team.
But a few hours later, news would spread that the star point guard - who planned to go home before joining the team for a victory bash - would be found beaten half to death at the site of the condemned Cherrylyn Food Plaza right in the heart of Alhambra Village.
Authorities are working to recover evidence of the person – or persons – who attacked Crespo.
Sir Tony Ramirez, Saint Jude of Galilee’s school administrator and team coach, had this to say: “This is a very devastating loss, not just for the team, but also for the friends and schoolmates who loved and admired Tim.”
“Whoever did this deserves to rot in jail,” he added.
When asked if this may have had anything to do with the long-standing rivalry between Saint Jude of Galilee Academy and Saint Bartholomew School of Alhambra, Ramirez declined to answer.
Timothy Crespo is currently under observation at the Saint Gertrude Medical Center. None of the Crespo family have been available for comment.
