Chapter 14

Aunty came about 45 minutes after our call and I didn't know what to say to her, so I lied.

The time I was supposed to use to find out what to say to her before she had arrived I had wasted it conversing with Umar...well I don't even think it can count as conversing, it was me blabbing and him giving back short replies.

So I had to cook up the lie on spot, I felt really bad lying to her but I didn't know how to explain how I ended up working for Umar in the first place.

I told her that I went out with my friend after I left Rabi'ah's house and she mistakenly left me there and some guys followed me and Umar saved me.

I made a quick note to send Rabi'ah a text immediately I get my phone and tell her to go along with the story in case anyone asks, most especially Ya Abdul, I already know hes going to turn into an entire investigator when he find out...Oh My God.

Of course Aunty freaked out after I was done talking, However she later calmed down when she realized I wasn't hurt that much.

She kept on thanking Umar and it was so obvious he was feeling really uncomfortable.

He later left the room.

It was so ironic how he was the one who landed me in the situation and he's the one being thanked for saving me.

Aunty sat down on the stool Umar was on earlier.

"Hameeda, but you know your father and your siblings have to know about this" she told me.

I nodded in agreement "I just didn't want them to know today because I knew Baba would get furious."

"Yes he will, he has the right to, what took you to one unknown place, if not for Umar only God knows what would have happened, subhanallah"

Well yes..if not for Umar!

I looked away and I nodded, I really felt bad for lying.

"Aunty, it's getting to midnight, go back home" I told her.

"Go where? And leave you here alone with no one?, nooo" she argued.

"Haba Aunty, you literally left the house with no explanation and they are probably worried about you, and you aren't answering their calls, go home and explain to them, I'll be fine, and besides, there are nurses here to take care of me."

She sighed, thinking about what I said "Toh naji, but if you need anything call me, I'll be coming tomorrow immediately after Fajr prayer, with everyone else."

I nodded and I smiled at her.

She hugged me before she went out the door.

Not 5 minutes after she left Umar came in.

I raised an eyebrow at him as he sat down at the couch on the right side of the room.

"You have not gone?" I asked.

"If I had gone would I have been here?"

I rolled my eyes and turned to look at him, I suddenly remembered Rumaisa's obsession with him. 

I chuckled and he turned to look at me.
